Ciechanow Nice and very old town, about 50K people live there. Nice castle and city square. I think it's a typical Polish town with the influance of German infrastructure.

It's about 0 degrees cel. there today, food will be very typical polish food, and culture very typical Polish culture. I suggest learning as much as you can about Poland through books and the internet and at least some basic phrases. The Poles will appreciate your efforts and you will have an easier time making friends. You can contact me at jerrydean@wp.pl if you'd like more info and if you'll need any help.

I'm sorry but there is no such city like "Charzanow" or "Charzanów" in Poland (especially near Krakow or Czestochowa). Please check the spelling and try again :|.

There is...Proper spelling of native name of this little town is "Chrzanów". It lies nearer to Kraków than Czestochowa, by 45 km from Kraków between Libiąż and Trzebinia on the urban line of six towns lies from Oswiecim to Trzebinia, with very good motorway connection with Upper Silesian Industrial District and Kraków. What about the city?...Hmm I can't tell you about it as much as you want, because I haven't been there since long time. It's population is over 30thousand, size is simmilar to every satellite towns in US like for example Sommerset near New York city, maybe little bit larger than 50 sq km I think. Most famous thing of this city is probably factory of train engines with the name sound "FABLOK".

Dear Mozart

Once again thank you for taking care of message and providing valuable information about this small little town Chrzanow. I am delighted to note tht even you corrected spelling of Chrzanow. It was wonderful to know there is small train factory in this town name FABLOK(Probably)

I am not polish yet Ilike poland and polish peoples. Till now I hve not seen any nasty remaks pasted/posted in this forum. This is wonderful. Trzeginia is amzing when you read it and pronouce it. When I was reading a book about Poland I noticed that Wice is frequently used in name of towns and cities. eg. Katowice. Millwice., and there can be ohter wise. Is wise means town or place in Polish?
I would like if any body from Chrzanow write me or want to make me friend.

I don't know that you are native english speaker, but I think that you shouldn't have problem to understand that the part of word "-wice" don't have any connection with, as you think probably, meaning of the name of city. Only one thing comming to my mind. In my point of view there is a plural version of the name, which it came into being in result of creating-word processes. But know there's nothing different between this kind of name of cities and the other.

I greet

Good question. What does -wice means in Polish at the end of the city names? Could it be "town of..."?

Thanks

No, wice is just a part of the name, it does not mean anything in Polish by itself.
