adisgirl99: Hello, I am new

Hi

I am new here, and looking for help learning Polish.
Currently learning the alphabet and the pronunciation of the letters, so am literally a total amateur!

I am wanting to learn as I work in retail and deal with Polish customers daily, who often have no understanding of English, and struggle with requests and taking details, such as Name, Address, DOB Etc.
I am also studying to be a teacher, and think it would be useful when dealing with Children and Parents who speak Polish as a first language.
Luckily, I have a few years until I acheive my QTS...but would love to be able to hold a simple conversation in a few months, if that is achieveable!

Any help or advice would be appreciated,

Thanks

Welcome Adisgirl.

Start here: URL

Good luck on your learning. Search around the threads for online dictionaries, and several of the good folks around here will help with the odd translation.

Be sure to participate in other areas of the forum, as Admin and the Mods will not hesitate to relegate your posts to the trash heap if your aim is only to get translations.

Oh, yeah, Don't feed the trolls!

Wow,

Thanks for such fast replies.
And thanks for the link, I have been using the BBC site, just to learn the alphabet, and pronunciation, as it has a function to listen to the word or letter, but I was wanting info on where to go for more technical sentences etc lol.

I am currently sat here practising saying the alphabet, and getting the oddest looks off my 4 yr old daughter, bless her!
I may let her try a few words too!

Welcome. I think you enjoy learning Polish. There's a very good first year course book available on the internet at the University of Pittsburgh. Also has grammar, dictionary and pronunciation available. Pronunciation is not as yet complete on every lesson. Click on the URL button: URL
