Advice for an Irish girl meeting mother of Polish boyfriend

Anyone got any useful advice for me please?
I have to meet my Polish boyfriends mother for the first time!!!! HELP!!!
Anything I shouldn't do or should do???

well, I think that being yourself is the best, however mothers are mothers. Does she speak English? If not that the communication will be a little difficult. Can you find out form your boyfired what she is like? I am sure that will help.
I think the issue here might be if she is open to non-Polish cultures, wheather she has traveled often, what kind of values she stands for etc. Some Polish peole are very traditional, yet very warm, so it really depends on who is is in general.
I am sure you would be a little stressed out, but so would she.
You will be meeting her in your country,so that's a bonus.
anywas, I am talking too much. Do you have any particular concerns? Are you meeting her in a coffee shop/ restaurant or at home?

I will be meeting her in her house. She lives here (ireland) and from what my bf has told me she is quite open minded (she's lived in Italy also)

Not heard of this Organised religion...is it some sort of offshoot of the Free presbyterian church...or........you know......

Plus be careful to wear the crucifix around your neck...not your "next" ...where ever that maybe.........................just a tip ...thats all....

Ok its been a while since anyone posted on this thread so i hope people will see this.. im in almost the exact same position :-) im Irish too and my Polish boyfriend's mum will be coming here maybe next month to visit him so i'll meet her for the first time! She seems nice, i've said hello to her on the phone and she's asked about me before :) But she doesn't speak English and me? TROCHE mowię po polsku.. but i will be nervous no doubt!

So any advice on what i can say to her and how to make a nice impression, despite the fact that we won't understand a word the other is saying?? :-)

Also what is the first thing I should say to her - maybe "Miło mi cię poznać" ?? or maybe thats not the most appropriate form for addressing his mother..? And also is it traditional for us to shake hands or kiss on the cheek?? Yes, i've thought this over quite a bit....... any opinions? hehe :-D

Tak to prawda, tylko trocheczka :-D ale moj chlopak powiedz mi ze jestem dobra studentka!! My speciality is diminutives haha :-P i love them i think they're so sweet!!! i say EVERYTHING in diminutives hehe.. eg mleczko, domek, smska.. whether its big or not :-D
