it's a big deal in the US...
when i talk with an American about football,i have to use a word 'soccer' because for them football is only American... in Europe, people call soccer 'football' and in the US it's American football and soccer ... just a different calling..not a biggie...
beside, in Dallas is FC Dallas, which stands for Football ClubDallas, right...

This has been established ;)

We also have the Jersey FC so i don't know how we're any different.

Sure, they strive to be the best, but the love of the sport is still fresh in their minds. Once all the drafing is through, then it's the money.

All American sports are fine but commercials electively ruin watching them on American television. I have seen just one NFL game live and it was total disapointment watching players gathering together and waiting for commercial to be over so they could continue play. Pathetic! The same time 70 000 crowd is bombarded by local commercials coming from speakers on stadium. Pure joke for me! Raiders fans are best though in the world.

Yes, well said Kowalski. Its sickening to watch a full NFL game. Hockey is almost becoming that too, but what I do, is record the game on DVR and watch it later, and fast forward through the commercials. Pilka nozna I can still bear, because the halfs are continuous, with only commercials at half-time. However, there is still a lot of advertising during football games, as the ads are all visible along the pitch. Even if you don't realize it during a game, you are still caught remembering those idiotic advertisements.

It seems to me that I'm the lone baseball fan on this entire site, so in defense of my sport, IT IS NOT BORING!! Europeans don't like it very much, I get that. I'm not asking any one to start liking baseball but when you say it's boring you lose credibility in my eyes. That's not a real critique. You people love soccer and the knock on soccer here in America is that it's boring. "Oh, soccer is boring, they never score, all they do is run around and kick a ball." That's a dumb argument, but people over here make it all the time. Saying baseball is boring is the same thing. I know a lot of Americans are getting off the baseball train too, saying it's boring. All I'm asking is for some real criticisms, not just personal barbs. Plus, Polish Americans have achieved at baseball unlike any other American sport. Baseball was a way of integrating Poles into the culture here. Ever heard of Stan Musial? Born Stanisław Franciszek Musiał? He has a baseball field named after him Kutno. Probably the only ball yard in Poland.

I'm in America and baseball is deathly boring. Just my opinion....and many other I know :)

Running around a kicking a ball is better than just waiting like an idiot for one to come to you.

I know what you mean, and I guess all we can really do is give our own opinion.
In my opinion, baseball is fun to play, but there is nothing more boring to watch than a baseball game..

I watch baseball live once a while, it's fun. It's more of a day out with friends and family then a sporting event and I love it. I like watching football too, but my favorite is hockey. I LOVE HOCKEY.

PS> Did you guys hear the news: Brett Favre's retiring! What's funny, I just talked about it last week with someone at work; how long is Brett Favre going to stay in the business? Another 20 years? 50? a 100? And today we got the big news... I wonder if he overheard me talking about it? LOL

Baseball is very exciting if your team is in the playoffs.

I just wanted to pop in as I really got a laugh out of the title of this thread..
I'm in urgent need of a ROFL smiley.. :D

Personally, as a Pole and a patriot, I LOVE football/soccer/piłkę nożną (pick one). I admit, even though I tried getting the rules of both: american football and baseball.. I still don't find it interesting. However, I can go to a game and sincerely enjoy it. But I'll leave the tv to my boyfriend when the Yankees are playing (though I'll wear my lucky Yankee hat all evening to make him happy ;).
Still, having a farily satisfactory amount of brain cells and a pretty healthy attitude to life, I won't ever say Polish piłka nożna is superior to any other sport. You just DON'T discuss tastes.. :]

(I'd dare OP to repeat this statement - in Polish - in any decent Polish pub :P )

Then for Chicago fans, baseball isn't very exciting.

Baseball in NY is like a soap opera. I'm tired of hearing about the overpaid roided up Yankees here.

I'm sorry sledz, but if you think there are more Cubs fans than Yankee or Red Sox fans, you're dreaming. 4 out of every 5 official licensed MLB caps that are purchased are Yankee hats and 53 percent of all baseball merchandise is Red Sox stuff. Keep telling yourself that the little league park that's falling apart that you call Wrigley Field is a fun place to watch a baseball game. If I wanted to get puked on by a dude in a pink collared shirt I'd just go to a frat house. I know the Cubs have a lot of fans (why, I have no idea) but in terms of all around fans you're third maybe fourth behind the Yanks, Sox, Dodgers, Mets, maybe even the Cardinals.

I'm sure they did :) I enjoyed watching this.

Their time can be up and no matter how much I dislike, they're my home team and they're still considered to be the best in history

They need to make baseball tackle :)

You can practically watch any game and theres more Cubs fans than in the visiting stadium.
They get national coverage on every game.

Youre just a little too stuffy, Ive had nothing but fun times in Wrigleyville.
Much nicer than Anehiem or L.A.

What? We won the World Series in 2005. (White Sox) Although most of the Polish fans live on the northside and are Cub fans.

That's true, Taxmandan...after 80 some years! Listen, I got no beef with White Sox fans. My axe to grind is with the northsiders like my friend, sledz, who thinks that WGN's deal with the Cubs makes them the premiere team in the major leagues. Well, unlike the 80% televised Cubs games, EVERY SINGLE Braves game is televised on TBS. Is Atlanta the most popular team in the land? I think not. As for Anahiem or L.A., I can honestly say I enjoy Dodger Stadium in gorgeous Chavez Ravine much more than Chicago's biggest bar, Wrigley Field, even though I'm not a Dodger fan, or an Angels fan for that matter.

I'm falling over myself with laughter just reading the name of the topic, you have to be kidding me don't you, AMERICAN FOOTBALL bigger than anything in europe. I think your forgetting the real 'football' where you actually kick the ball with your feet, hense the 'foot' in 'football'.

American football is big in your country and a few thousand in certain countries around the world watch it. THe audience for a superbowl is nothing like the audience for a world cup football final :)

that place is a dump, how could you compare it to wrigley?
You have to bring a gas mask because of all the smog.

But where else can you see 40,000 drunken idiots doing the wave?

Or Beachballs? Sure there fun at the beach, not for a dodger fan though,
there compelled to
bring them to the game and throw them on the field...good times huh?

So hears to all you behind the back-stop cell phone wavers...:)

A dump? At least they didn't have to chicken wire the concrete so it didn't fall on the fans. At least the outfield wall doesn't look like death until June when the ivy turns green. Games in Chicago in April look disgusting.
