Andrew Golota - what do You think of him?

Why he fled from Tyson, why he doesn't get the title, I must say that despite he lost the important boxing with Lewis, Tyson, etc. I always loved him for all this emotions he give to me, Fu***k Dariusz Michalczewski, So what he won so many fights? Did he fight Tyson, Lewis, Bowe? No! For me Andrew always be the best *kazik song Andrzej Gołota, and now Gołota probably will come back to ring! I hope He can be a champion! Despite he have so called champions Krzysztof Diablo Włodarczyk, Tomasz Adamek that don't impress me much (but Adamek's fights were great). so what do you think about "faul Pole"?

I think that although he has "a strong jaw" he also has a weak psyche. It would be better for him to give up boxing and start something entirely different. But that's only my opinion.

Yes, psyche was what killed him in the end. Also, in my opinion, if you notice Golota's fights you'll see his mouth is always sort of open - and that will physically finish even the most durable fighter because of lack of oxygen (run-fight effect). Watch the fights again and compare to other boxers and you'll see what I mean.

Golota's time has passed. He will never win a title or likely have a title shot again.

I was and am a huge fan. He was the first Pole to make into into the upper tier of HW in my life time. He gave Bowe all he could handle and then some and that was at a time when Bowe was at his best.

He had all the tools, power, chin, skill, and had some of the best speed and put combos together like very few HWs.

Unfortunately, something wasnt right upstairs, maybe. Im in no position to judge what the problem was. Only he could answer that.

But he was winning two fights with Bowe, beating the crap out of Michael Grant when Grant was seen as the next best American HW. And had all the tools to beat Tyson and several other top HWs. Its a shame things didnt turn out better for him.

Now, hes too old unfortunately to really take him serious and unactive. As much as I hate to admit, his time as passed.

I had the opportunity to work out with Andrew on a couple of occasions, and had always been an athlete I really pulled for.

keep dreaming, until boxing becomes a huge sport in Poland, we will likely never see a heavy weight Polish champ of world in our lifetime. It is good to hope though

I have a big faith in Golota's ability - He is my favorite Polish sportsman - No this silly champion Michalczewski, who didn't want to fight in US (and when he did he lost). Look on this way Golota was fighting under Polish flag what didn't help him to be champion, If he would fight under US like Michalczewski under Germany - Golota could make it easier but he was from the beginning to the end only for Polish fans, not like German Michalczewski

I also believed in Andrzej, but now it is too late. He is like 38 years old - IMO he has absolutely no chances now to win against someone from world top 3. He had his chance but now it's like Mike Tyson's coming back - fiasco......

I agree, you watch Golota vs. Bowe and compare it to some of his latest fights, he is just so much slower nowadays. He had his chance and cemented his legacy as a contender who just couldn't win the big one. By the way im curious has anyone seen Mariusz wach fight at all? I've been searching for video clips of him and have had no such luck. Maybee with some hard work he can become Polands next heavyweight contender.

But he quit.

As far as I remember Tyson took cocaine before the fight and was proved guilty (but they - for some reason - didn't cancel the fight).

Pawel Wolak, look him up. He's an undefeated Polish-American Light Middleweight fighting out of New Jersey. Also Tommy Zbikowski a safety for NotreDame, In his pro-debut he looked pretty good, but odds are he will try and pursue a pro-football career. Look him up on google video.
Now back to Golota-Tyson, after doing some research I have heard nothing about Tyson using cocaine before the fight. I know the fight was changed to a no-contest after Tyson tested positive for Marijuana. And I have found something that give Golota reason for quitting.
Golota, although behind on the scorecards is very much in the fight but retires on his stool saying "I quit" to the cornerman who acts in disbelief. Later it is revealed that Golota has a broken bone in his head, which could have pierced his brain, should the fight have continued. Golota claimed in the dressing room that Tyson was headbutting him all the time during the fight, but the referee did not warn Tyson.

Thanks for sharing the Tommy Zbikowski information. I went online and watched the fight -- he looked okay but has a long way to go before he is a contender.

Golota broke my heart. The guy had all the physical stuff to be champion but zero fire in the belly. *If* he made a come back I'd cheer for him but that's only cause of the white eagle connection.

Golota should have beaten brewster a few years back and he would have won the title. he seemed as stated above simply unable to unload a knockout blow to a much smaller boxer. That broke my heart. That was Golota's and polands best chance for a Heavyweight champ. He just coulnd't land that punch. he can't come back now he was never that fast and now you can read the gazetta before he winds up and throws a punch. But I love the guy

Golota has been unlucky in his career and much of that is down to his mentally fragile condition and lack of confidence. However, he should have got the decisions over John Ruiz and Chris Byrd and won a world title. He was a world class fighter that lacked the extra edge to make a champion.

I wish him well on his comeback though and he did look good against Jeremy Bates although we must remember that Bates has now lost 5 fights in a row.

Right, Tolstoy! Andrew BEAT both Ruiz and Byrd, both champs, and he beat them both fair and square, and both times he was robbed by the crooked refs (who didn't call knockdowns when Byrd's hands touched the mat 2 or 3 times following punches) and Don King's crooked judges! In reality Andrew was heavyweight champ twice!

As for his strange losses, I'm not sure how many of them were due to his own quirks and how many were due to his Polish Mafiya pals. We don't know the whole story here, not by far.

Say what!? You don't know what you're talking about. What big famous fighters DIDN'T he fight!? Bowe twice, Lewis, Tyson, Byrd, Ruiz, Grant, Brewster, Nicholson, Witherspoon, Norris...

I think Andrew is just spacy - like me!. He gets in the ring with Brewster and he doesn't feel like warming up before, and he's daydreaming about his old girlfriend in Warsaw - and the next thing he knows he's on his ass!

Also, I think the mob fixed it so that he lost some fights, like Lewis and Grant. Maskaev too. The mob made him throw some fights, I think. Sergei Kobozev, they killed him.

He looks like he's trimmed down a lot and in great shape.

no more Golota please.

he had his chances but lost key fights because he is mentally weak.

Andrew compromised all Poles when he lost easily to Lewis, Tyson and Brewster.
