Ewilina:
how do i do that?

for search
step1:

go to kontakty > szukaj znajomych (search)

step1:

a box will pop up Wyszukiwanie kontatów w Gadu-Gadu
Imie>name
Nazwisko>surname
Pseudo>handle/nickname
Plec>sex
mezczyzna>male
kobieta>female
wiek>age
od>from
do>to
Miejscowosc>town/place
numer Gadu-Gadu>number Gadu-Gadu
Szukaj>search Więcej>more Anuluj>stop Zamknij>close

When you do a search just enter your friends number in the box and hopefully it will come up, now you need to save it.
Or you can just do a random search to find someone, this is where skype is more effective than Gadu Gadu because in skype you can see who is in skypeme mode i.e. a person who lets a stranger contact them.

step 2:

in-between Więcej and Anuluj at the bottom of the box you will see some icons; hover your mouse pointer over them until you see "dodaj do listy kontatów" >add to list of contacts
Then a box will pop up and you can edit the details with the translations I gave you earlier, then ok and they are added to your list.

step 3:

This is the important bit as you need to upload your contacts to the Gadu Gadu server so you can access them where ever you are.

On the main Gadu-Gadu page go to Kontakty on the top and click it> then Eksport listy kontatów (export contact list)
Here you have a choice of saving them to your computer "Do pliku" (to file) or (to Gadu-Gadu servers) "Do serwera Gadu-Gadu"

That's it, have fun :O) mine is 5979396 but I am English so it is no good for practising Polish lol because my Polish is limited :O)

I know if you open "Archiwum" you can save individual messages by opening the Archiwum tab, in the drop down box select "zapisz" and then save file as Text "zapisz do pilku TXT", That's the only way that I know how to do it.

Also you might want to take a look at this as it is a portable client that is compatible with gadu gadu and you can keep it on your pen drive............ link therefore you will not loose your messages in future.

i thought the idea was to add people you did not know but were using gg in your area..........

Then you quite obversely don't understand how Gadu Gadu works, because the usage of Gadu Gadu in not cast in stone!!!!

Skype has a better sound as regards speaking over the internet and is continuously being improved whereas gadu gadu has an issue with the firewall in XP where it uses the SIP standard and if you turn off your firewall it will work better.
A negative note: Skype does not use the SIP standard(Session Initiation Protocol), so it can not interoperate with other Internet Telephony systems; this is however largely justified, since most of its advantages come from using a new protocol instead of SIP, which does not work well in fire walled environments.

Would you enlighten us on why it's "gobbledegook" as the Polish is there to help with the process of finding fiends and people in your area if you take time to read it!!

You didn't spot the feed line. I agree what he wrote is a load of old gobbledegook. It was nice of him to point it out for us in case we missed it.

Hope that clears up any confusion on your part :)

I use Kadu. It works fine. It's not a mirror program, but similar enough.
