Just wondering if there's any native English speakers living in Lublin? I've just moved here and haven't come across any so far..

Hey Valmoe, Jareck, it's nice to know there's 'someone' else out there!

I’ve only been here 10 days and I was interested to know which other natives chose Lublin as their destination (or maybe Lublin chose them...)

While it is usually disregarded in most Polish city debates on this forum, I think Lublin is a pretty decent place and it actually pleases me that hoards of wannabe teachers aren't flocking here.

Any advice on how to meet Lubliners and where the best hangouts are would be welcomed graciously.

Well, I can't tell you I know a lot of Native Speakers. I know the 1 I work with. There is a American program at the Medical Acadamy but they are mostly Indian kids and tend to stick to thier groups of study friends.

As for hang outs.... Ochefs down in the old city, downtown clubs, the local gym?

I am as you are, lacking the company of my fellow natives. I am here with my boyfriend and I just hang out with the english teachers I work with. You'll find a lot of people speak english and for the most part are very open to having english friends. You are a free english lesson. LOL

If your working at a school you'll meet more people there and network on but as far as a big native speaker population.... I haven't found it.
Can I ask... are you American or British?

I'm English.

I've just started working at an English school so hopefully with time, I'll network with students and staff alike.

As for the Med students, I know of them as they usually keep me awake at night as they hang out by the mal opposite my apartment, shouting street slang obscenities at each other!

That would be them. Some are very nice and respectable but unfortunatly there's a large bunch that makes you think opposite.

If your at an english school you'll surely network and fortunatly with respectable people. You can pick up private lessons as well. That'll make your pockets thicker and get you out and about. I have lessons in cafe's and the park when it's nice and nothing is better than getting out and making money!

Good luck and I hope you enjoy Poland as much as I do!

Well - you know what it's like to be a migrant now :)
Make sure you let know your British brothers that it's not an easy life!
And I suppose noone acused you of taking their job away yet?
Welcome on the other side of the story.

Altohough my life as a migrant wasn't easy, good luck to you!!!!

Lublin is not a bad place to live, but it takes time to meet nice people.
Lots of them are just really angry about the way their friends and family are treated in the UK. And if you have a common sence you'll understand it very quickly.

Any luck then? Have you found any friendly faces???

It's good to know there are some "outsiders" thinking positive about that lovely city, not only those who were born there :)

Oh.... I miss Lublin a lot :(
Give it a hug from me.

Hope at least this Xmas will be proper white polish type!

Hello All,

I just want to say that, my friend was also from Lublin but staying in uk.

I had a strange expirience with him. He was putting so much pressure initially on me.
i also saw a post in this forum from him, saying "is indian polish relationship possible ".
But i was staying quite far from his place. I used to visit him once in two/three months. Once when he was out, i happened to get a skype message from a girl in polish. Later, i see many girls contact in his skype. Then i got suspisious and just opened his emails. I see so many messages sent to girls and replies from them showing naked pictures and some just too hard to mention, focussing just some parts of the body.
I was fully shocked. I had trusted him, without any suspision. Just after he came back , i just shouted at him. He said i am no longer his girlfriend !. Isn't it strange ?

I had to visit doctor as i had gone down fully because of this.

This is just the part of the story.
What do u think ppl ?

Are all polish/european guys are like this ? unfaithful ? I just gave my heart without thinking.

thanks,

YES

as he and me both are very well educated and same field.
Was bit emotional, as i never expected this from such educated person...I was not ready for any relationship initially ( that too interracial) , which i had conveyed, but it was a pressure from his side.
