Anyone from Mielec?

I have a dear friend who was born and raised in Mielec and I wanted to get some general knowledge from someone else who has lived there as well. My friend lives in the US now, but I am fascinated about the culture in which she was raised and would like to learn more about it, and maybe even impress her a little.

Anyone with any general insight to this region would be greatly appreciated.
