anyone put the new shengen rules to the test?

I posted something about this a while back. I've already overstayed the 3 month limit here in Poland. I was told repeatedly (even by the polish embassy in Washington) that I should cross the border into Ukraine before the ninety days are up, and come right back in to get a new stamp which would give me another 90 days. But this isn;'t true anymore since the Shengen rules became effective last January. Now you can only stay 90 days within a six month period. so I would've have to have stayed in Ukraine for 3 months before I got back in - hell no.

What if I went to germany or sweden, there aren't borders anymore since Shengen, so I can go there freely with no trouble. Could I leave from an airpot in Berlin or Stockholm for New York? Would they care that I got there through Poland?

Has anyone had similar issues? any info would be appreciated.
thanks.

Getting to, or through, Germany shouldn't present too many problems. But don't forget there are still ID checks on trains.
I would think that if you are boarding an aircraft to leave Europe then they would overlook any long-stay problems. Just guessing though.

I travelled within Shengen in April and the ticket people looked at my passport both ways. I don't know what would have happened if something were out of order...

You can stay in Schengen zone for 90 days (Poland included) . From wherever you leave Schnegen zone, Berlin, Stockholm or Malta you'd be asked about your overstayed visit.

I drove last Sunday from Warsaw to Belgium. Crossed the border at Swiecko / Frankfurt a/d Order without even taking my foot from the gas. There is no border anymore.

you know, I thought this schengen agreement was restricted to a handful of countries but apparently Schengen comprises most of europe!! So If I spend 3 months in Poland , that's it? I gotta leave europe!!??? Thats f*cking ridiculous I can't believe it.

You're on a visa, you DON'T have the right to stay any longer than you are allowed! Quit b*tching! Schengen is to make it easy for Europeans to travel, not for fcuking whiny yanks to overstay their welcome!

So you're saying it's okay to break the law? Immigration laws are there for a reason, visas are there for a reason and to be quite honest it angers me that people think it's okay to flaunt the rules... - Im guessing you're some foreigner doing the same!

WB, the guy moans all the time about Poland and now moans that he cant stay longer because of laws in Europe....Amercians hate the fact that Mexicans pour into their country illegally yet he thinks it okay to do the same in Europe!

Well I obviously understand that about Poland you idiot, If I come to Poland I have a limit that's intuitive. But my surprise, and what's counter-intuitive is that if I leave Poland after 3 months I must wait another 3 months before I can reenter Europe, be it Switzerland or Spain. Don't act like that should just be obvious to a foreigner who isn't exposed to all these developments. It's not obvious at all, especially if I spent most of my travelling freely throughout europe. So thats why im asking for info, for people to educate me about all this mess, I wasn't asking for moronic insults.

But hes hardly a mexican, im sure he has more to offer Poland than immigrants under normal immgrant circumstances.

I suppose on the other side of the coin Poles cant visit America without a visa atleast they can come here under the EU rules. If only for three months.

I don't moan about Poland all the time, I talk about the good, complain about the bad, I did it in New York too. And just now I wasn't talking about staying longer in Poland at all, I was talking about LEAVING Poland and if I would be able to come back in Europe anywhere. My mom's in Sweden, I got childhood friends in Switzerland, so this is of interest to me.

I don't hate the fact that Mexicans pour into my country, I don't consider mexicans a threat at all compared to dumb-asses pouring into leadership positions in our goverment (bush & friends) or terrorists.

Lots of things on the planet please me actually. Not old enough to be a granny, try again! Weeds, yes they are quite bad in the garden at the moment since the weather has been bad and opportunities for gardening have been limited. The only things I hate are dirty TB and AIDS infected illiterate foreigners who come to the UK to leach and procreate!

A true patriot, SS get used to it its not gonna change. I was back in the UK a couple of weeks ago, god i love England. But its not the coutry it used to be far from it, I dont think you need to be worrying too much about the immigrants. The problems in the UK seem to be a bit closer to home. The white scum bag issue.

One of the reasons I left actually I dont think i could ever live in England again.

Sorry mate. If your visa is expired, there's nothing else you can do at the moment. Unless you want to be an illegal immigrant. I'm a foreigner in UK, but believe me or not I wouldn't put myself in position that you're right now. You should think it thru before before you came out of your house. Rules are for the reason - that's why i didn't come to UK before 1.05.2004.

Not yet, according to wikipedia (usual caveats apply) Switzerland is not yet Schengen but is scheduled to join November first of this year.
