Yoji Biomehanika :) Really nice live!

That's hard trance, no? I like to watch Lab 4 in their live shows...
myspace.com/lab4music

Seen them a few times - actually maybe twice? - in the Fridge club in Brixton... Fantastic energy in their sets. That's probably the only thing nearest to hard trance that I know anything about =D

Maybe some would like to comment on this situation/article:
http://www.kansascity.com/sports/columnists/jason_whitlock/story/19576 0.html

Now, mind you, this is American culture & I don't mean to reflect on Poles or Europeans...but I posted some things earlier, and maybe this article gives some context.

@ joepilsudski : yes i agree that if young generations think that acting like a gangster and being in gangs pushing drugs on the street robbing people is cool, its not a good thing, but that's more like a possible side-effect of listening to rap/hip hop. It certainly doesn't mean that everyone - or even most people - who listen to it or like the music (and hence support it by playing it on radio, buying the albums, downloading the songs, etc.) will be negatively influenced. And I think its an exaggeration to say that "as long as people like hiphop/rap, the violence in the world (particularly america and uk where this music is very big) would continue. " For one thing, I'd rather say that as long as there's poverty and inequality in the world, violence will always ensue. In fact, I will even go as far as to say that perhaps as long as there are human beings on this Earth, there will always be violence in its various forms in existence... because it almost seems as if human nature has its evil streak. Free love and hippie idealism in the 60s and 70s has come and passed... because people realised it just wasn't really workable. It was ideal, but doesn't solve the problem of many human evils... in fact it also helped propel it to another dimension - the rise of the popularity of cocaine and hence all the social problems related to it, the rise of AIDS,... etc.

If you think you are gonna do the part of a good samaritan by boycotting/dissing the music because you just think it can eradicate violence on Earth, then go ahead and do it. But what I really had a problem with, joepilsudski, was the fact that you sounded very patronising towards me and were referring to my favourite musicians as "garbage", etc... with the criticism directed towards me. I wasn't just gonna sit down there and take it and let it pass. I don't even know you personally. How would I know if you were not using it as a personal attack on me? Were you???
Anyway, case is closed as far as I'm concerned.
I'm not angry with you anymore, but don't push your luck again.

Dear Rachvt: I merely bring up some points of discussion that I think relate to the thread...as far as personal attacks, I have no interest in attacking anyone, and this forum is certainly a nice/fun place to express ideas & opinions, not a place that should be used for any kind of personal insults or anything of the kind...I don't know what
musiciand you love that I slagged off, since almost all my comments were about Rap
as a cultural phenomenon...I have been playing/writing music for 25 years, and try to
keep an open mind to all artists & forms, even if they are not to my particular taste...
My main complaint about the 'techno' forms, including Rap is that they are too 'machine'
based, that is, the music is made by manipulating computer-generated sounds, as opposed to having real, live musicians playing...we used to call certain musical sounds
'illegal frequencies' as a joke, but much of the techno stuff DOES use sounds & frequencies that have a deadening effect on the brain...I guess I sound like my parents
generation who complained that rock & roll would make the kids into savages...but the
world just seems/sounds a lot more HARD CORE to me these days, and I don't enjoy it...
I also, like music based on a drone, but softer forms...I would recommend
Stereolab, Sheila Chandra, Shweta Jhaveri...there are also some interesting Polish groups who are experimenting w/rock & more open-ended forms.......Peace

Ok, I would like to make a protest statement. This is what Joepilsudski wrote some pages before:

(...)many of the owners, movers & shakers in this 'rap' industry are Ashkenazim or Jewish. (...)
but once the corporate media got a hold of it, it was reduced to a cut & paste psychobabble...as far as the ownership of the music industry & media & Jews, just do a little research...MTV is owned by Sumner Redstone AKA Murray Rothstein, son Jewish mafia kingpin Arnold Rothstein, who was a partner of Meyer Lansky...you will find these same connections in EVERY media outlet, with the possible exception of Bertlesmann AG, which seems to be owned by a former Nazi supporter...as for the Beastie Boys, they are complete no-talent
garbage, and have contributed nothing of value to any cultural form...(...)

I don’t speak English good enough to express my loathing towards all people thinking in this “jewish” terms.

I think it is a shame for all of us to tolerate such a filth spiting maniac in this forum. Please kick him out. He stinks.

who cares if they are black, white, Polish or American? Everyone has the right to make the music they choose.. regardless of who likes it or not.. its called freedom of expression. If you dont like it then dont listen.

very true.... if you dont like it than move on with your life. some of it may be funny just because the listeners are used to different rap songs and a different language... (ie-english probably!) im guessing rap probably did start in a different country other than poland.... but all music has to start somewhere. as for me.... it matters what polish rap song it is, not just polish rap overall. im into all different random types of music. everyone has variety

Your english is "joke of course!"

Have you ever listened to them??? It is beautiful music.... but this is hip hop; if you are over 35 years old then it's probably not for you...

might wanna try listening to "Din Dong" or other disco polo..... might suit your style better...

Whats your deal? 18L likes to sing rather than anything else....

So you're saying Nate Dogg is not american hip-hop?

Man all you underground retards are the same. Well guess what - there's a reason it's "underground"...... same reason microbrews are only popular in their hometowns.... BECAUSE IT SUCKS! And that goes for any language!!!

You must not know much about hip hop making this statement. Being underground is more of a culture created within the genre. Back in the day it began "underground" with beat boxing, break dancing, freestyling ...etc. There are many great underground artists that simply dont want to conform to the producers/lables standards. F.ex Planet Asia, Hieroglyphics, AWOL one, Company flow, Drunken Immortals, Zion I, Del, Black Star....the list goes on

....and your lack of beer knowledge is also evident :)

1st off, Hieroglyphics has not been "underground" ever since third eye vision came out.... I bet you didn't hear that album until 5 years after it came out....

The rest of those sucks.

So, talib kweli and Mos Def suck? Just by that statement alone shows me that you have bad taste. also, the Hieroglyphics (who are all underground artists) are still considered underground and not played on the radio....not in NY anyway.
