Hey Admin or Mods

Is there any call to have an archive here on PF? Or any reason why there isn't? :)

Could you specify what you mean by that?

If you go into Off topic lounge you'll see that the beginning dates back to January. How far back would you like to store topics?

Aye! Some of the topics here are getting a bit lengthy, I just wondered if it might be an idea to have an archive of some sort so that the lengthier topics might be chopped but so that people could still read if they wished. And perhaps older topics, that may be of interest to people (eg new people) but have not been commented in for a while, could go in there as well. Just a suggestion. :)

It is precisely this kind of thing that makes threads too lengthy.

However, I am as guilty as the next man/woman/child/animal.

Even worse now! The only Memory Stick I have got with me is full! Oh great!

then when you've finished your work why don't you e-mail it to yourself and pick it up at work tomorrow :)

so why not take the stuff of the stick leave it on your computer, that is the stuff thats old or that you don't need straight away and then replace it with the stuff you do need:) if you need to old stuff then you can e-mail that to yourself instead :)

I think I need everything on it to be on it just in case the Internet is still down in my work.

It sounds like "topic closing" feature (which already exists...).

To the Almighty Admin maybe! :)

I didn't really mean for topics to be closed, but just chopped at the start even though people might still be posting on them! I suppose that takes away from the actual topic in the first place of course...

Never mind!

An archive might have been nice for some of the more interesting topics about Poland/Polish people - like the Vintage Photo's topic, would hate to see that one disappear.

Yes, that's the main reason chopping threads from the start wouldn't be the greatest idea..

all this chopping and changing is real real bad its like trying to find what you wrote before, why not just leave it topic on or off, people can always pick up from where they left off as it will be where they originally posted it instead of having to go on a flipping treasure hunt!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The majority of "cleaning" is done regularly on the same day; no extra cleaning up is expected.
