Polish/German/Russian relations

I asked Wujek this question before and am curious how other Poles feel.How do Polish people feel about Germans and Russians in general? The Nazi occupation was 60 years ago but Poland suffered so much do people have negative feelings about the German people?

Also,do you blame communism rather than the Russian people for what the Soviets did?
I know that if Britain had suffered in such a way as Poland (under the Nazis) there would probably still be much anger/hatred.

I dont give a s hit about the germans or the russians. But I will say that I prefer the Russians because some Germans are up themselves and i think still have some nazi left in them, ie. they think that since they are germanik peoples they are better or something . But I know this is only some .

so... like you said... people hate the Nazis and the s hit that went down with some Soviet government actions like deportations to the far east end of russia and so on... forced labour camps.

I feel good about them all. They didn't do anything wrong - they parents or grandpartents did... and this is makes a difference.

well, right now russia is cutting off our gas line and makeing a pipeline in the baltic sea from russia to germany and avioding us and ukraine in purpose, so i dont like neither country, both countrys people are full of themselves so they could go f**k each other:)

I don't mind Russian - I think that they suffered a lot as a nation.
I am not big fan of german, I think that they are full of themself and they look down at us Poles. It is my impression and I don't like it. They have never been friendly towards us.

I'm not a big fan of German either -- they act as if they owned the whole European Union (in fact they do since the German banks manage the finances...).

Don't like Germans either - they always beat Poland in soccer games... :( :).

Went to school with a German foreign exchange student (well actually a lot of German foreign exchange students) but this one in particular didn't care for Polish I could tell.

Her host father commented on the only German National Basketball Player (U.S.) Dirk Norwitzki and he asked if 'ski' was German as I don't think he knew how to spell it. She immediately said "No! That (ski) is Polish!" (with a laugh).

I emailed her some weeks ago during the World Cup and I sincrely think she didn't write back because she knew I was Polish.....

I don't know. There are some Polish-German marriages and they are probably happy but I don't think I would like to live there. I think that England is more open and tolerant for polish people. Maybe because we are not neighbours and don't have any history.

There are third / Fourth generation Polish familys in England, the polish integrated in to the english way of life - they had and still have their own social clubs but have just gone about daily life, they didnt try to change anything, so I dont think it has anything to do with tolerance, it's about joining in with whats going on as aposed to other cultures that are in England and separate themselves and try and impose their way of life in a host country!


You're very forgiving, after a recent trip to Oswiecem, I realised how much the Polish people suffered at the hands of the Germans, I'm not sure I could be so forgiving. I like so many lost relativese in the last two wars to them but we (English) havent known such loss as your nation, so the only thing the majority of english think is that they are a rude nation who dress badly!

That is true we integrate very quickly- In the end of the day we have similar culture ,we are Christian .....
But betwen Germany and Poland there was always tension. It is diffcult to explain but they look down at us.I rememebr I was on the trip in USA ( Great Canyon) we saw there german group- their look at us , how polish can afford trip like this? they should wash up dirty pots in some bars not going for a trip.

but that is true. I think that they are not very happy that we are in EU. They woulkd like to see us as weak, poor country happy to go to Germany to work for them for little money.

I remember some tv programs showing areas with quite big unemplyment there.
I am thinking why so many polish, chech, Hungarian...people go to England, USA, Ireland looking for better jobs but you don't see many german? I think that some part of eastern part of Germany are quite poor, and bad.

It's about time that the USA did its part to bring equilibrium in a northern european section supposedly claimed by Germany and Russia. I am for aiming nuclear weapons at both Germany and Russia. I am a U.S. citizen and I think that Roosevelt did not do enough to stop that barbarian Stalin at the Yalta conference. I think that they all just wanted to 'go home'.

If Germany or Russia shows its defiance again than I say that the Allies should bomb them both into submission. The Allies have the power. Josef Pilsudski was a little early for the table but he tried to engage the wrong partner, the French.

Forget about the Germans looking down upon people. They are just born as cold hearted f'in freaks. Once you smack them in the back of the head then they are submissive. They should be performing the labor jobs for Poland and allow Polish intellect to be the strategy leaders. Why else do you think that they, and the Russians, persecuted the Polish intelligentsia in the early 20th century?

Germany is called the land of the Poet's and Writers, we are till now famous for our inventions, feared warriors, we MADE the western civilization!

And Poland...erm....what do they say about Poland...hmmm....

Nothing to do with the war or history bratwurst boy - truth is that people simply do not like Germans !
Whereas most people do like Poles because in general they are pretty friendly and humourous people - things that simply cannot be said about Germans - sorry

I thought Americans/British were loud and obnoxious when I was out in Gdansk, but the Germans took the cake there.
