UK Internet in Polish

I work for a company called PlusNet - we provide Internet service to the whole of Great Britain. During the summer we introduced a Polish service (Polish signup process and Polish support!).

I'd invite every interested person to visit our site on: plus.net/pl

Otherwise you can give me a call on 0845 140 4854 and ask about our offer.

Hope to hear from you soon!

In fact if you have any questions about the Internet, you can post them on here. I'll be on hand to answer them for you.

Oh yeah, I'll be on the phones in 2.5 hours.

I'll be on hand to answer them for you.

Splendid. Can you tell me what, if any, encryption is applied for VOIP traffic?

Before I answer your question can you please specify what you are asking exactly.

There's 3 questions that I can think of coming out of your question:

1.) What priority does voip traffic get on the network
2.) Does our Broadband Phone service support encryption
3.) Can I use a third party encypted VOIP service on your network and if so what priority does voip traffic get on the network

Good clarification of my rambling question.

I guess my question should have been about the need for encryption at the other end of the VOIP call. I understand that I can have encryption at my end but is there a need for similar software at the other end of the call and does it need to be the same software or are there standards that are supported by various encryption products. Or does encryption/decryption happen at the boundaries of the Internet. If so where are those boundaries. Are they just at the POP?

No questions on Priorities - I understand that area well. (I used to do a lot of work with early MPLS stuff).

VOIP encryption is client specific, hence depending on your software it might be encrypted or not. Most clients provide some kind of encryption at the transport level. Hence the connection from end point to end point should be fairly secure. However, it wouldn't be secure from any trojans or viruses present on either of the endpoints. Meaning you should trust the person you are talking to.

As far as our broadband phone product goes I am inquiring about this right now and will get back to you shortly.

Has my reply been enough to answer your question or should I further inquire about our broadband phone product?

That's fine thanks. I know the two people who I need to communicate securely with have the same software as me so encyption/decryption will be fine. I was just interested at a general level to find out if encryption standards and implementations had evolved to the point where different client software could be used at each end but based on common standards could support secure calls. I hope I haven't wasted your time Mr K
