HELP....i need some advice...I am an English guy who has bought an old farm on the edge of a small village...The farm is in need of many repairs , but until i sell a house in UK i don't have money to make these repairs....Because i don't speak Polish very well i am not able to earn very much money , just a little teaching English..Life is hard sometimes , and in order to pay bills i sometimes go days at a time without food , the longest was ten days , no eating....I have made many good friends among the people of my village despite the language problem , but the problem is that because i am English , and just happen to own a Harley motorcycle , they think i am rich...This is a bit of a joke really , as most of them don,t go without food as often as i do....Because of this belief , some people from the village have made two visits to my farm when i was out...The first time they took my mobile phone , camera,s and video camera...The second time they took all my tools that i need to repair my bike and car , and my home...I went with a friend to the Police , but on both occaisions nothing happened despite the fact i told them i knew who had done this....So Polish people please advise me...What do i do about these bandits , to punish them , and deter others from taking what little i have left....Please understand i am not saying all Polish are thieves , i have many special friends in Poland , these bandits are scum , we have such people in UK also , its just that in UK i would know what to do, in Poland i am stranger , and a bit alone...what do i do...?

the longest was ten days , no eating....

why the heck are you buying old farms and you own cameras, harleys and
mobile phones and you go without eating because of all these material things?

it sounds to me like you jumped into the frying pan too soon. I agree people
shouldnt take, steal, but at the same time I dont feel sorry for you when you
are burying yourself into a hole by living like you are rich yet your sacrificing
your health in return for all these stupid material things to which you cant take
with you to heaven when you die and you werent born with them so why are you
even making such a fuss over them in the first place?

you willing to make your body sick by not eating for 10 days or less because you
bought a farm you couldnt really afford at this point. and you havent even sold
the other place.

another option is, get rid of the gagets and buy a dog that will protect your
home.. but make sure you feed him or he will have your arse for dinner.
thats my advice.

Before taking any violent actions (the locals may get back to you with more manpower anyway), you might try to report the local Police's lack of actions against the thieves to a higher level (I don't know, powiat or województwo) or at least let the cops in your neighbourhood to know you consider such an option,
I have no idea if that helps, I haven't had much to do with the police in the last 20 years, except once when I got robbed of a shirt and a pullover :)
Of course they said the theft wasn't serious enough for them to move their asses (or something to that meaning).

Do they have security bars in Poland? You know, the ones they put on doors and windows so no one can get inside the house.

haha. great idea.

He sounds like he's sincerely asking for help. Maybe he should make a hole in the ground to hide his things when he goes out.

A simple question: If he can afford "things", which are not necessities, why can he not afford a single necessity as FOOD?

agree... that being the most important in order to keep health and well being so
that you can wake up to go to work and make that money that you so desperately

hi..just to clear up a few things....i didn,t avoid buying food in order to impress all the local girls with my Harley...I owned the Harley when i got here , and yes i could sell it and buy a few loafs of bread , but i choose not to...As for the camera,s and things , i needed them to take pics to put on a website to start a business here bringing tourists to this lovely area and provide jobs for local people...I am not asking for sympathy regarding the food thing , i was just trying to point out that i am not some rich visitor to Poland buying up land to make money...I live here , i am part of the community , and i am here for life...I first came to Poland in order to to bring money toys and clothes for children in a home here , so yes i am a bit angry that people who have plenty to eat have stolen my things to sell and buy drugs and beer..All i want is some advice on what to do , i am not expecting anyone to cry for me...I knew life would be tough here , and i don,t complain about that,,, just need some help please....Jan..

jan, it appeared as though you were,

going 10 days without food? come on, what would you expect. maybe you should have
proof read before posting. if thats not what you meant.

like I said, we understand that people shouldnt steal, but if you cant afford
to eat, how can you afford anything else? securing a home takes money.

its wrong for people to steal and assume that you are rich, but it happens even
to the poor .
not one bit of its right, you could get a electric fence like they do to keep in the
farm animals in, you can keep the sticky fingers out. they wont like shock. but
you have to probably pay out some decent money. or get some really big german
shepards. like i said, make sure you feed them or they will turn on you. especially
such a smart dog as them.

If the police won't do anything it seems hopeless. Maybe some sort of security system might work, even if you have to create a secret compartment to hide your smaller valuables when you go out. Seriously.

sorry. my mom is also deceased, I cant raid her fridge either. and I wish I could

yeah, thats rediculous going 10 days without food. I don't even believe you've been 10 days straight without food, and if you have, then you need to get you're priorities in order. no one needs a harley. i can understand the thing with the camera if you're trying to get tourists or something, idk...pretty much everything you said doesn't add up to me, but what do i know, and what do i really care. if you'd rather have a harley than food good for you and good luck.

Sorry, if we were to harsh on you, maybe we just misunderstood your situation and your intentions in Poland. It seems like you chose to be in Poland hoping for a better life for yourself. I can certainly understand that. Good Luck on your venture and please don't skimp on food.
You should complain at the local Police station about the stealings. There is no excuse for that.

my brother put bars on his garage windows and security door, he has some
really expensive car parts in his garage, so in order to keep the vandals out
he used ( listen to this) our old railings from the front porch, my dad had new
one put on, so he recycled the old railings and used them as security bars...

they work and they look like they belong there :)
