i read them.. nothing in them that i could tell applied to the threads i have seen closed.. i think a direct reference to, let's say rule 5, surely would be nice.

I don't specify the rules because the links to the rules are on several thousands of pages. In addition, when a new user signs up, s/he automatically receives a PM message that list all the rules. Obviously it's much easier to ignore the rules and then say "oops, I'm newbie here."

Moderation and administration here is done on voluntary basis, membership is also free, so those who don't care about reading the basic rules just waste our time.

Point #9? Plus the message on 8,547 (currently) pages:

but you refer to them in your closing posts. being a little more specific may help you with repeat offenders. imho i mod several forums as well as being a member of several others and i find this one kind of tight and confusing at times.

i understand that mods volunteer but seems the forum may be over moderated at times.. just like i found my first post being moved from where i put it a complete over moderation. if you really don't have the time to mod so much then why do it? this is nothing personal.. just trying to understand. thanks

It does, but sometimes you know which member is not going to "last." In this case the member in question is very likely to become suspended anyway for requesting translations only and not participating in other discussions.

Not sure who mentioned lack of time... The point is to do something efficiently; if someone, mostly because of ignorance or "I'm a newbie" attitide), doesn't want to spend his/her time to follow some simple rules, perhaps it's not a good idea to be a forum member.
