How to pronounce a polish poem

Hello fellow forum members. My son's school is having a Nationality Day. One of the students pick a poem by Wisława Szymborska titled Świat umieliśmy kiedyś.......... She is having difficulty reciting it and wanted for me to translate it phonetically for her. I am having difficulties myself since my Polish is somewhat weak and figured to ask the wonderful members here on the forum. Any help will be greatly appreciated. :) Świat umieliśmy kiedyś… Świat umieliśmy kiedyś na wyrywki: - był tak mały, że się mieścił w uścisku dwu rąk, tak łatwy, że się dawał opisać uśmiechem, tak zwykły, jak w modlitwie echo starych prawd Nie witała historia zwycięską fanfarą: - sypnęła w oczy brudny piach. Przed nami były drogi dalekie i ślepe, zatrute studnie, gorzki chleb. Nasz łup wojenny to wiedza o świecie: - jest tak wielki, że się mieści w uścisku dwu rąk, tak trudny, że się daje opisać uśmiechem, tak dziwny, jak w modlitwie echo starych prawd.
