Influence of polish people on US history

rc89pl   Apr 24, 07, 08:47 /  #
I have to write an essay/power point presentation about influence of polish people on us history from 1800 until 2007. I wanted to write about Kosciuszko and Pulaski but they appeared in US history before that date.

Topics I'm going to include there are: Politics, Religion, Artists(theater, cinema, music) and..?
I want to write about Zbigniew Brzezinski and Karol Wojtyla for sure. Who else suppose to be included in my presentation.

Anybody can help me? Who else I should include there?

It's a shame for me that I wrote everything above in english in this forum. though i saw u use only this language here i'm 9 months in usa already.

Dzieki!

Polish-American or real Poles too ? If the second one then for sure Wałęsa and the whole Solidarity - Yanks like that stuff. Maybe Paderewski, he was for some time in America I think. There were also some Poles in the civil war.

Two other people who come to mind are Marie Curie and Frederic Chopin. Each had huge, worldwide, influences in their own field.

I would rather prefer people who are best known for Americans. I know they can be familar with Golota(but 53 seconds last time dismiss him for me).

Paderewski would be OK.

How about writing an explanation of the first years of Baseball in USA? I heard that first Poles in USA brought a new sport there, called Palant and after few years Irish people changed few rules and called it baseball. I would be so happy to see my classmates faces who cheer Red Sox's team and think that this REAL american sport is best one here, after hearing the REAL story about their favorite game.

Walesa is a Nobilist and really important guy for Poland. Though his influence on US history was rather little. I don't think many people could remember him(anyway-even my history teacher doesn't even know who Kosciuszko and Pulaski are...)

thanks for many helpful answers ;)

You may always show It the way that he helped to win the cold war, democracy and all the bla bla.
