Lechia is the historical and/or alternative name of Poland , still present in several European languages: Lenkija in the Lithuanian language, Lengyelország in the Hungarian language, Lehastan in the Armenian language, Lehistan in the Turkish language and Lechistan in some Central Asian and Middle Eastern languages such as Persian.

wikipedia

The name originate from tribe Lędzianie [en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lędzianie], while the most common known name Poland (Polonia) comes from tribe Polanie [en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Polanie]. This name is widely used in Western post Soviet countries like: Ukraine (You can see this names in movie: Ogniem i mieczem). Many peoples think that name has a insult meaning, like Polish speaks about Germans as Szwaby. Well i wrote this that many even in Poland don't know this and this is quite interesting.

Pamiętaj Lasze, że po San nasze
- Remember Lach ..........

this is a Ukrainian proverb about claiming the territory that what is to the river San is Ukrainian's land.

So Lachia means Poland and Lach means Pole - this is good to know that if you don't know it yet.

These names are rather historical than alternative. Suppose they come from Lech, the legendary founder of Poland. They're not used any more.
