Poland's Walesa to undergo heart transplant

Let's hope it goes well for him, he needs to stick around to throw a spanner in the works from time to time :O)

Former Polish President and Solidarity movement leader Lech Walesa said on Wednesday he planned to have a heart transplant in the United States.

Good luck to him.....I find it odd though, that people have offered to contribute to his medical costs in lieu of receiving his old heart.....very strange indeed!

Out of curiousity, I wonder how it will work for him getting a heart? In the US as I am sure in other countries as well, one has to be put on a transplant list. Depending on how critical a patient is and other factors determine who moves to the top of the list. If he were not such an important political figure, I wonder if he would be given a priority, considering he is coming from another country?

I would assume Mr. Walesa will be coming to stay in Houston while awaiting a heart as a transplantable organ is only viable for a certain number of hours?
