In the 1950s, American and Belgian missionaries in the Belgian colonies of the Congo widely distributed polio vaccine to a million children in a bid to wipe out the crippling disease; however, evidence now suggests that Dr. Koprowski's oral vaccine may have been tainted, and that the first instances of the disease may be linked to these inoculations.

I know that there is a very high level of Aids in Eastern Europe and that Poland does have a higher than usual level. It might be due to the fact that they sleep around a lot and procreate like rabbits or because they do not have funding for their old hospitals.

I watched it and found it very informative, I thought Aids started in the country of Haiti and what they do to Monkeys there. They have a really high infection rate hence forth the US goverment doesnt let too many of them in here.

An interesting observation: Grzergorz has 4521 posts, 697 of them are in the welcome section, posts such as "welcome to PF". Thats almost 20%! There must be a welcome for virtually every new member, I know I got one from him. He welcomes you and then as soon as he discovers you have a bad word to say about Poland thats it.

The medical services here aren't that bad, and considering the level of funding, they do really very well. That includes medical care for people with HIV, which compares well to services in the rest of Europe. I'm sceptical about the figures though, not least due to recording methods and the large private sector within medicine, which may mask the real totals. And Poland is most definitely not a third world country. It is a middle-income country and developing fast.

It depends on how you compare one country to another. Poland is not technically a third World country but mind you, on the other hand, it is one of the most bankrupt countries in the World. Its debts are huge. Its medical cover may be better now but when I was there...Jesus!!

OPV theory accounts for just one group of several different groups of HIV, which suggests that trensferrals must have happened by other means. I remember reading somewhere that the scientists have analyzed polio vaccine that had been used in the program and the result was negative. I believe it was done by Wiser Institute in Philadelphia so Google your S**T first before you post your BS here.

I wonder as well. Aids is a global problem, and if you want to find out about that disies it is enough to google. I do not get your posts they are just so bitter. You do not need to like Poland but what is the point to write just negative stuff. It seems like you just want to put people off of going to Poland but you even do not live in Poland. The forum is for people intrested in Poland, travel and events, so why are you wasting your time for something what is not your cup of tea?
