I just wonder how many of the foraign people know some Polish brands...

(well, there are quite a few well known Polish companies who are operating in W.Europe and the US (less) - and there are more and more Polish holdings who control various W.European companies - but in both cases aren`t being as0sociated with Poland)

So, here`s my question - do you know any Polish brands/products or company names ? smile

Not bad for the start - but, maybe beside LOT, those are very small, insignificant companies.

Yes - though it still isn`t one of the major international companies.

Ever heared about i.e.

Melex ? - the company isn`t very big - but it should be known in the US.

It`s one of the world`s largest electric car producers.

Gino Rossi - a fashion design company

Orlen - an oil company - controls 10% of the fuel distribution sector in Germany. Last week it has overtaken the whole petrol manufacturing sector in Lithuania

Bioton - a pharmaceptical/biotech company that is about to overtake a large part of the Italian market.

KGHM - the world`s 6th largest copper mining company

Solaris - Central and Eastern European leading bus manufacturer (most of buses in Berlin are Solaris buses - which is quite funny cose in Berlin-city colors - the front side of those buses looks very similar to Hitler`s face smile )

Kulczyk Holding - which belongs to dr Jan Kulczyk - one of Eeaster Europe`s richest men. Kulczyk so far hasn`t made so much business in W. Europe so far. But right now he`s getting divorced with his wife, who is almost equally rich as he - and he wants spend more time making business abroad.

PESA - it`s a train manufacturer - it`s not very known W.Europe but in the East it`s quite well known.

beside that there`s also BUMAR holding - a military-heavy equipment enterprise.

PZL - an areospace conglomerate.

Yep - beside that there are lot of companies who manufacture various foodstoof - that is being sold under german-sounding or english-sounding names thruout the EU.

Well, and when we`re talking about the EU - then about 1/4 of the Euro-coins have been made by the Polish State Mint smile

That's interesting to know.

Orlen I've also heard of. I'm sure as the years go by PL products will become more known by the rest of the world.

Katowice are to us something like Detroit in the US to the Americans smile So even if you`d be there that`s not very representative. But it`s hard to belive since seeing Krakow the biggest attraction to you is the UFO in Katowice - so you weren`t there. And even if you were - China-boy, you are preatty fuc*ed up.

If you live in the UK, or in London at least, you must know some Polish products. Myself, I've seen Polish beer, vodka, ham, bread, pierogis, sausages, carrot juice (mostly Kubus), and many other products.

I guess it's not only trademarks as such that count. There are several cars for example made on Poland only, Fiat seicento being just one of them.

They have a great deli in Las Vegas, Nevada. You can get alot of different types of food and such from Poland. Also , they make sausages and such right there at their store. Any one in that area should check it out. Its on Charleston.

Dude, PZPN is something that needs to be destroyed ASAP. And it's not even a brand - it's the Polish National Soccer Association smile.

Bumar I have heard of, but that's only because I have been in military service for years and everything regarding this subject interests me. So that really doesn't count.

But we already have a few Polish stores in Holland now, and I think we can expect to see more of those in the near future.

So I guess you can educate me. smile
