I've noticed some time ago that after English food I've started swelling, even not gaining a weight, but exactly swelling. I feel like a full of water or something. I never had something like that after i.e. Italian food, or Polish of course, even after high-fat products. I've noticed that many Polish girls have got the same problem in UK. Their bodies start to changing here. The doctor told me that it could be because products here are full of artificial suplements or hormones. Even my lazy hair start to growing much faster. No, I don't eat chips, hamburgers etc. I like healthy food so I try to eat here, but nothing changes. When I'm in Poland I can't eat half of portion what I used to eat before. Each time i'm in Poland I eat everything like a crazy, much more then here and I start to loose my wage! I go to the swimming-pool frequently, but it no helps. Maybe food is the reason some English girls have got the problem with wage?Someone of you has got the same problem? Where to buy good natural products besides Polish shops?

There are far too many artificial additives and supplements in super market. pre-prepared food in the UK. Two years ago my family stopped buying these foods. Within weeks we had more energy, felt less tired and started to lose weight back to our normal levels. From now on it's only fresh food for us. We won't buy even vegtables from super markets any more. We get them from local markets.

Now if I could only give up beer I would be really slim and healthy (but very, very boring).

True I've seen you on the pic! However I observe this problem have got many Polish girls. like I said I haven't got this problem after other nation's products and if I was "bigger" never in this way. It's no even the fat! It's something strange under the skin. 5foot 6 in height' 57 kg (don't know how many stones it is) and also size ten, but I feel like a waterbed now!

I'm

They provide kind of organic food? So I can call now many Polish products organic! It's funny I thought before that in Poland we have got artificial food.

I'm not sure if Polish shops in the UK sell good natural products.

Have you tried organic food? Personally never tried them, but maybe that would be a perfect solution for you?

My friends in Poland (girls) are far more physically active than English girls of the same age. I can't genaralise too much but Polish schools and colleges have more sports activities, and the young people walk more in their daily lives.

Joining a Gym or Sports centre in the UK is expensive and it is eaier to drive to the pub or club (or stay at home on the computer).

You can blame fast food or additives but the simple equation is:
calories taken in versus calories burned - what isn't burned is retained as fat.

Warning - If you are overweight at 40, it is much harder to lose after that...

My opinion is that a lot of Polish food is seriously unhealthy... you guys seem to eat a lot of fatty meats like sausages and other cold meats (sorry cant remember the name of them) and packet mixes like Knorr, which contain lots of e-numbers. Of course English have fry ups and chips etc... but there are healthy eating options in all countries. Generally I believe that the English diet is healthier than the average Polish one as we tend to eat less red meat and processed foods. Although we have more obesity here, I think its down to lack of exercise.. and Polish people are probably more active - as stated by clunkshift above. Ooh I can feel the backlash already...

well, that came as a surprise to me - i am myself a vegetarian living in poland (=eating polish food) and i have no problems with my weight. maybe you just need someone to show you the right places to dine out? or learn to cook for yourself... (that's what i do very often but only cos of personal preferences and student's budget to some extent )

i know what my choices are... and the point is that they are very limited... and i am not restricted to a student budget either...

Stay away from white bread, stick to wholemeal - too much yeast in white bread which causes bloating, drink plenty of water and green tea this should help

I suppose you do not understand my Foxy Lady. I'm talking about products- artificial, tasteless egs or meat, which even after if add to it a lot of spices and herbs it taste like a plastic or something. I'm not talking about Knorr etc. I eat simple things in Chinese or Italian style, and I didn't need to be active in Poland like I HAVE TO be here. Many English girls are working really hard on gym, I know, I live in front of gym and swimming-pool. After that Polish cold meet etc. I didn't have any problem with health. In England meat is tastless so I'm full vegetarian now. However I've got still kind of water under my skin, it's changes my body. Sorry but I've seen many times in your health food's shops i.e. Polish cucumbers in brine, but we don't think in Poland that is healthy! Even bread here is really strange, like a paper. I need to find products without artificial additives and supplements.

I'm doing that! Also I drink NATURAL juices, not these 100 % from concentrat, (not a bit oxymoronic?), green and red tea, and hate this white bread. Unfortunately I'm still swelling, exactly swelling. My skin started to be less firm, not that I've started to be fat, because of fatty things!!

Ok well you are entitled to your opinion, but I stick with mine.. which is that Polish food is generally more unhealthy than British. If you cant find healthy food and good meat in the UK then you havent been looking hard enough. Anyway, nice that you have a swimming pool and gym nearby to work off all that disgusting food. I dont want to attack you personally as thats not why Im here, but from my observation you seem to post things complaining about life in the UK.. eg) you cant find a good enough job and now the food is crap. If its really that bad, then why not leave?

Try and eat a fruit smoothy every day - use frozen fruits (red berry, blueberry and rassburys) and add a bio yogurt - stay away from dairy products, it could actually be IBS, go and see your doctor, as for your skin this could be because you are not used to the water where you are living, suggest you put oil in the bath this may help.

OK, but according to a previous post, she is a beautiful model who is constantly discriminated against for being so gorgeous... so which is it to be?

Could be a water retention problem. I used to have the same problem but having adjusted my habits to go to the loo after every second pint the problem has gone away.

Being serious it could merit some medical advice which I am eminently unsuited to provide

Magdushya, I believe your symptoms but not your diagnosis.

You mention you have seen a doctor, was he a GP? Did he understand the problem and did you understand the answer?

If your body mass in increasing, it can only be fluid, muscle or fat.
Fluid is heaviest, then muscle, then fat. So if you gain liquid mass without gaining weight, you have a problem.

If it is fluid, it is is governed by gravity and at the end of a day will show most at your ankles (or lower abdomen) and conversely be more apparent in your face and upper body when you wake up in the morning - Muscle and fat does not do this.
If you press your thumb against a swollen ankle and it leaves an indentation - it is fluid, but if the skin and flesh regain shape straight away, it is not fluid.

Fluid retention (Edema) has many causes, and I would suggest that unless you can identify a substance like excessive salt intake or excessive diuretic intake (coffee?), it may not be food related at all.

If you believe your problem swelling is fluid, you must see a doctor - again.

What types of meat is this hun ... i tend to buy fresh chicken breast meat or fillets, beef, mince, lamb chops, steaks but never NEVER buy it in the plastic shrink wrapped form --- this is tasteless and yuck!!!
But then again i was brought up by my father eating homecooked meals made from fresh produce and products

it could actually be IBS

I am a sufferer of this have been 18months now

peppermint tea is good to aid the digestive tract

I am currently slightly bloated and stomach podgy Magdushya but this is down to my ibs as symptoms range you can be bloated with it .... constipated (sorry) with it ... have the opposite of this and sometimes feel run down

I would speak to a doctor or see another doctor that may be able to clarify whats wrong?

The doctor told me that it could be because products here are full of artificial suplements or hormones.

I have to agree with you, Polish food is high in fat and stodge. There are no hormones in food (meat) in the UK and the EU, they are banned. I think you should consider eating more fruit and vegetables - organic if you can. The problem is that the UK makes people lazy when it come to cooking food for themselves, I cook everything from scratch and never buy processed food. Work can make people to tired to bother, and working hard is what the Poles come here to do.

so why in natural shops u got lots of polish products and even OUR artifical food is better than organic one in UK by the way I don't remember that someone opened Jurassic park in Poland here I see dinosaurs every day I can bet u r one of them I've read somewhere that u got Polish boyfriend so ask him to translate it 4 U : jeżeli jestes zakompleksioną angieleczką wstydzącą się swojego wyglądu to się nie dopierdalaj do innych którzy sa inteligentniejsi od Ciebie i przede wszystkim ładniejsi poproś swojego chłopaka żeby Ci z palca pojechał bo jebanie nie przynosi Ci satysfakcji i jestes nadpobudliwa mam nadzieję że to cię troche odstresuje miłej palcówki ;-) Or if u r so multilingual maybe u alredy know what's here pls doe critic others if u got no basic 4 doin it. by the way its polish forum so doe tell ANYONE to go back. I can bet that one day in Poland in my city and in my area would be the worse day in your life. Everyone knows that on a sidewalk is better to jump over u than walk next to u (shortest way;-) if not i doe see reason to critic people 4 their look or did they've been models or not. I THINK that u r so ugly that u r not going out and u r sitting by computer whole day. If u would go out from your cave u would see that streets r empty because of u. u will find out that u r ugly cuz that u r stupid every one already knows
