Yeah, I would like to know what kind of lnguage is Welsh? Is it Germanic? Pictish? Gaelic?

It's like nothing I've ever heard (maybe it was just because the guy was singing the anthem)

It's Brythonic, Ianto.

Not welsh, just lived there for a while. Araf. Alright...no need to tell me twice.

It's not my area of expertise Ianto but, afaik Cornish (Kernowek) and probably Breton are ones that spring to mind.

soon the Welsh language will be extinct

The 2001 census also recorded that 20% could read Welsh, 18% could write Welsh, and 24% could understand spoken Welsh. Furthermore, the highest proportion of Welsh speakers was among young people, which bodes well for the future of Welsh. In 2001, 39% of children aged 10 to 15 were able to speak, read and write Welsh (many of them having learned it in school), compared with 25% of 16 to 19 year olds. However, the percentage of Welsh speakers in areas where Welsh is spoken by the majority is still in decline.

No it's not unusal, but you'd have thought he'd have spotted it, it's not like it's in Welsh or something.
No, not even any subtitles.

The Welsh is extinct if people stop teaching it. END OF STORY. Children are the future in case you didn't know.

Does anyone here speak welsh? I took a look and it's appears to be a pretty bizzare looking/sounding language. Some of the town names like: Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch are unbelievably long...I thought PL was a mouthfull.

Yep. On average Welsh takes up 15% extra character space. It's just screwed up a computer system design I'm working on.

if only 20% could read Welsh, 18% could write Welsh, and 24% could understand spoken Welsh then the language will be extinct within 100 years And it doesn't help that percentage of Welsh speakers in areas where Welsh is spoken by the majority is still in decline. The trend is not you friend
