When homeowners moved away after a wave of foreclosures in Cleveland's working-class neighborhood of Slavic Village, crime took off.

The Slavic Village in Cleveland, OH was originally settled by Polish and Bohemian immigrants. Due to a rise in foreclosures, many houses in the area have been abandoned and attracted the attention of burglars and drug dealers.

It's a pretty normal behavior - same thing in Poland when sometimes half of village homes were empty when people went to UK or US to work..
