Only today I was given two doughnuts by the boss

lol Wroclaw, doughnuts?

where I work anything containing sugar and smells delicously yummy you should
have under lock and key!! to leave and come back, its like saying have it!

people do take when they shouldnt, but I would hardly qualify that as a polish
stealing issue. more like someone was extremely hungry and forgot to eat
breakfast, and hey they still left you one lol

Patrycja,

I think you know that I'm just having a laugh. Did you know that it is "Doughnut Day" here in Poland.

no I didnt, but I was laughing at that, lol, because sugar is a hot item in all
workplaces , lol you almost have to rent a pittbull to watch your cakes , especially
where I work, theres few men to the majority of women , and when chocolate
arrives, its like the radar turns on and people come running!! lol

I am being totally serious when I say this, but I actually heard on the news last night that in England, they were celebrating National Impotence Day (LOL). Yesterday was Valentine's Day, and I would hate to think there was a problem with impotence on that day (or anyday, for that matter). And come on Impotence Day? Somebody please tell me this is a ruse.

Ranj,

Doughnut Day is something to do with Lent. I think. So I guess it is a religious day.

I'm sure someone will put me right on this.

Tomorrow is Ash Wednesday and strict fast (not much eating) - so it seems to me they give them out and this is the only reason.

As far as I know Fat Tuesday is celebrated by Americans and it's in fact the same tradition as the Polish Fat Thursday "Tlusty Czwartek". The only difference is the day.

I bet they do have a party in Poland, but in the US - I don't think so. Besides, I don't like sweets too much.
