Good residential area in Warsaw

Hi all!

I just found out that I will be moving to Warsaw for one year work posting from this Christmas onwards.

Am seeking some advice of where would be a good residential area which are near to
ul. I³żecka, Warszawa.

Please advice as I have no clue if there is any expat friendly areas within the city. Otherwise, is there any residential area which is truly Polish for a great Polish experience.

On top of that, how much does a usual 2-3 room fully furnished apartment would cost in Warsaw?

Praga Poludnie is the best bet.

It looks like your place is close to the airport. I have a rental unit that Malaysian students are in right now, but it will be available from Dec. on. It is about 15-20 min from the airport by bus and is a 3 bedroom unit, 70 sqm. with a pool and a workout center. It is a good price and it is in the Mokotow district and is right on the metro, bus, and tram lines. I rent it for 2,700pln/month and is fully furnished. Pictures can be sent upon request. Hey Pskok.
First you must learn to measure in square metres - all accommodation here is measured in size, not just number of rooms.

2-3 rooms = 50 sq metres if you're happy with smallish rooms, price perhaps 1500-1800 pln in a reasonable area, perhaps 1400 pln in a shitehole (so it's not worth trying to save money),

or = 80 sq metres if you like high ceilings and a little space. Price perhaps 2,500pln, depending on area.

BTW, it's worth paying that little bit extra to be in a nice area, cos the bad areas are truly hideous - concrete jungles full of 12 story blocks. Strangely, the Poles don't seem to mind these urban wastelands. (I suspect most of them have never travelled anywhere in the world except Zakopane and Sopot, so have no idea of how it's possible to live in "normal human conditions", instead of in a concrete beehive.)

Good areas: OLD Mokotow, OLD Zoliborz, Saska Kepa, and the Old Town (though the latter is flooded with tourists in the summer, and drunks all the year round.)
