I know someone who tells his gf's he loves them just to shut them up!?

I think that is really low, but he says they keep saying it to him or they keep asking him and in the end he just says it so that they will be quiet.

Obviously, in the end these girls get their hearts broken because he leaves them and then they realise he never loved them.

Yep.. he's going straight to hell!

Seriously though, I don't understand why he would do that to them because he's not really that bad a person. I was married to him for 9 years so I understand him really well, but I can't work out how he can be so careless with other peoples feelings.

Its a nasty thing to do.... I hope it never happens to me.

i think most poles wouldn't. culture of america seems to be opposite of that. everyone throws those words around like it wasn't a big deal. americans are more open and expressive though.

So you think an american is more eager to say it than a Pole?? Or more importantly say it for the wrong reason?

Because it is easier for them not to deal with the situatuion then it is to just "talk" about it. Cause we as women will always ask the ever dreadful "Why" when we don't get the answer we want.

It is cruel but I'm not sure if it is easier to say for a man than a woman when they don't mean it.

many guys are scared of saying i love you because they know it means more committment so they avoid saying it-or only say it when they really mean it. so whats the point in saying it if you dont mean it?
polishgirltx   Oct 16, 07, 15:00 /  #
you should say 'i love you' when you are 100% sure he/she is the one...

the rest of it is just throwing meaningless words around...

ppl usually love each other for entire life but they are in love at the beginning.... the trick is to be in love all the time, feel the passion

sour grapes.

Hey, no not at all! I'm the only person he ever loved, so I have no hard feelings. I just think its cruel for him to do that to his subsequent gf's.

Sooo if an american says I love you, you should question it, but if a Pole says it, it is probably for real?

maybe you shouldn't trust all americans...
but some of us are sincere ;)
...not all of us throw around "i love you"...when we know it's not true. ;)

i think the american culture definitely over uses them....
...but i think we just want some kind of reassurance that we are cared about
(that doesn't mean that everyone should be telling everyone they "love each other"...when it's not the real and honest truth.)
maybe americans are just more verbal?!?
and want verbal reassurance of somthing?!?

i am not sure why "love" is the instant thing to say.

Yes we are!! Sometimes to sincere and your heart is on your sleeve. And I agree we want reassurance. It feels good to say I love you.

good luck getting that out of a pole. lol j/k.. could be though bubbles; poles rarely say that they love you so if i heard it from one i'd think it to be more serious. but you know how it is with generalizations, don't you?

i wonder if that stems from the 60s; you know, peace and LOVE and don't bogart... :D

Americans say: I love your car, I love your dog, etc.
If someone would say: "Kocham twój samochód" in Poland, they would think he's nuts!

I love your car, I love your dog

but that's completely said in a different way to the real thing!
