quick question for you frequent brits to poland .. how much in złoty would be enough for three weeks ?
I wont be hitting the clubs as i will have my daughter with me . . we arent big eaters and would have little snacks and a main meal throughout the day.

when i went in 2003 i was in poland (krakow) for 4 days and i had 615,000 złoty(which was £50 i still have the receipt from the exchange place in poland to prove it lmao) to last which it did as i still had loads to change into euros for when i went straight to Amsterdam.

Is also "visa electron" cards widely accepted in Poland as its the only card i have?

Yes Visa Electron is widely accepted in both ATM's and in shops/restaurants.

Does your 3 weeks include hotel or travel costs?

I'll be spending 6 days in Poznan & Gorzow and am taking £250 (for spending only) cash and my cards but I intend to do a bit of shopping

You know what?

If he is talking about SURVIVING...I would say:
1000 to 1500 złoty is enough --- if planning to hire a flat :)

If Hotel :)... tourist person!.... then alot alot alot more!

$1000- $1500 zloty? for 3 weeks is not enough for 2 people :) Telefonika and her daughter.

I guess it depends where she stays. Hotel, Hostel or free at friends place :) and how much she travels :)

i am making my own travel arrangements and accomadation arrangements within poland separate to the funds i want to take. Just for the travel and accommadation its cost me just under £800 for the three weeks now where in the world can you go on holiday for that price i ask :)

i am making a total of five separate train journeys across poland total of 1415km .. staying in 5 mid ranged priced hotels and renting somewhere of Bubbawoo (which i am discussing off board with him) .. spending most of the time out and about to be honest with my daughter and possibly using the public transport a little or just walking :) within reason.

I do intend to do the odd bit of shopping in each area we are going.

Don't know what your budget is. But my wife, baby and I stayed here whilst in Poznan recently.

Very close to the main square. Very clean, friendly staff. Reasonable prices too.

I spent £300 when I was there for 4 days in Feb, but im a bit of a spend aholic - I'd say about £1,000 would be fine - M&S I have found to be the best exchange rate, if you dont have one already open a Nationwide BS account they dont charge when you get money out of the hole in the wall, all the bars seem to charge the same even the nice ones on the main squares and all the restaurants a really reasonable and thats nice restaurants, you can eat really cheaply if you need to and the food is just as good.

Was in Krakow this time, was there last summer too and also visited Wraclaw in December, stayed at some really cheap apartments when I was in Krakow last summer, I mean cheap, but they were clean and in a really good location - think they were about 14 quid a night, Krakow is amazingly busy in the summer, bit of advice on the whole what to wear too, take some nices dresses, Polish women always look so manicured and well dressed in Krakow, also the weather was in the late 20is and even up to 31 degrees one day so light clothing, oh some fab ladies clothes shops too in Krakow :) plus the one million kabab shops, which I tested in Feb, very nice, but I have no idea how the Polish walk with them and eat at the same time, I needed a knife and fork to eat mine :) The jewish district is a must see, but get a good guide book before you visit there because it can turn in to an aimless walk about if you dont have a plan :)

One more thing, the bars outside on the main square in Krakow if very child friendly, saw quite a few Polish families sat around having coffe and lunch

think they were about 14 quid a night

thats not bad i am looking at paying nearly £162 for 5nights in a hotel in poland for me and little one which is a little steep but not found anywhere cheaper (so if you have a recommendation be brill :) )

I remember the kebabs but i need a fork as well to eat mine :)

It was a brief walk i did round the jewish quarter of Krakow in 2003 - so thanks on the advice

cheers on the info on bars being child friendly thats good to know at least we can sit outside etc and mingle

Im in wroclaw before heading into krakow :)

nice :) i would love to see this more in the UK & IRE but prices are one thing that put me off and not many places where i live do this unfortunatle :( miss Dublin and London to be honest (and Wroclaw)

For 3 weeks in Poland - id bring 2,000 PLN (im not the BIGGEST drinker but it was MORE than enough to enjoy the entire time (excluding accomodation BUT including my dining)

Im in wroclaw before heading into krakow

when you going? :) (and how long? ie how much do you think you'd need?)

im not the BIGGEST drinker

me neither least when i have daughter with me in fact i would say i have about 2 bottles of smirnoff ice red if she is with me then i am on soft drinks here in pubs in town .. or if gone for sunday lunch at the local up the road .. 2,000 zloty (£360) sounds reasonable to me .. so if i round it up to £500 should see us right .. plus i will have my card with me but i tend to only buy what i need.

Wraclaw is a difficult one, we stayed at a nice hotel because we were only there three nights. I will try and find the name of the apartments that we stayed at last summer in Krakow, there was a nice hotel near to them with a really nice area to sit outside and eat, one other thing that is nice about Krakow in teh summer is the parks, just make a sandwich get a bottle of water and go and sit on the grass its lovely, not as crowded as the city and a good escape for an hour or so and for some reason my heyfeaver didnt flair up either - everyone does it so you wont look out of place also a cheap alternative to buying lunch in a restaurant :)

when you going?

i shall be in Wroclaw between the 6th and 9th August then heading down to Krakow on PKP on the 9th August i come home on the 15th August.

But firstly im in the tri-city area (staying in Sopot- bubba sorting me out there) which i arrive into on the 22nd July till the 28th, Torun between 28th- 30th, Poznan 30th July-2nd August (visiting friends in both Torun and Poznan), then Warszawa 2nd - 6th August

So far my calculations have given me a grand total of just under £800 for accommadation and travel on the trains (investing in them city card thingys for musuems etc) so three weeks at that price aint all that bad!
