Going to Poland in a week... How much money to have a "good time"?

Matt418Nv   Oct 22, 07, 19:36 /  #
I'm 27, haven't been there since 1993.

I'm going over for about two weeks, how much money do I need to take with me to have a "good time". Not wanting to live like a rock star, just be able to do things like enjoy the travel and shop a little and entertain my wife.

It seems that things are MORE expensive than in US??? It doesn't sound right, but I wouldn't be surprised.

Am I in for a big shock? Because from what I've read so far, all I hear is negative things. That things are rough, and everybody is leaving.

TIA.

It's more expensive than in the US (especially now when the US dollar is weak in the world). What are you going to do in Poland - which places to go? It's not the best time weather-wise in November.

It could be a shock for you - but positive. In 1993 Poland was pretty miserable; now it's much better.

I'm going to Lublin.

I know the weather is crappy, it just worked out that way.

Yeah, I guess that's what I'm getting at. I'm hearing how bad things are now, so now I'm starting to think it's going to be pitiful. I guess that's some good news then.

Yeah, I haven't been following the currency exchange. It's pathetic how weak the dollar is now.

Thanks.

I'm not up to date about prices - depends on the city. In Warsaw you could pay 70 Zlotych per person (about $30) for dinner in a good restaurant.

I unwittingly entered a posh restaurant in old town, Warsaw and ended up paying about 250 zlotys for my ladie and I. Just look at the menu before you get comfy! :D

don't be surprised, now that the dollar is at an all-time low. times have chjanged a LOT since 1993. Dinner at an average resteraunt in Warsaw will cost about 30-40 złoty for a normal meal including starter, of course much more in posher places. A cheap resteraunt (ie Vitnamese) will cost about 12-15 złoty per person...of course these prices are just for food.

Not quite, but soon may be :) If you consider $10 for a meal to be expensive, than maybe. Just figure $100 US will give you about 240- 250 zl.

A beer will be about 3 dollars. Used to be a lot better :/
