thomon16   Dec 16, 06, 12:10 /  #
I will travel to Poland this Spring and want to visit Mariavites in Plock
and Felicjanow and Russian Old Believers in/near Suwalki. Does anyone
know if these religious groups welcome visitors?

You might care to look at the article on Russian Old Believers (which included something on the Polish communities) which appeared in hidden europe magazine in their September 2006 issue.

Does anyone know if any Moravians still live in Poland, in or near the German and/or Czech Republic and/or other, more eastern Borders?

My maternal grandfather's great grandparents were from Eisen, Germany; they came to the US over a hunderd and fifty years ago. They were German- born, but their faith was Moravian. I am talking about Moravian as the religion (Protestant, Count Zinzendorf, John Huss, 100 years prayer war, etc), not actually being born in (now defunct) Moravia.

I am American. I was born a Roman Catholic (Italian) then converted to be a Moravian like my mother's family were; my husband, also an American, was baptized Greek Orthodox like his Greek-born father (but his family worshipped at a Russian Orthodox church in their town here in the US and they still observe Old Christmas, Old Easter etc).

Also: Are Old Believers = Russian Orthodox or Eastern Orthodox?
