Skansen-Open Air Museums

Has anyone else ever visited these museum villages ? I think the generic term is "skansen" but I'm not sure.

I went to one in Kaszuby a few months ago thinking it was unique but have since learnt there are quite a few all over Poland.

This summer , I visited the Etnographic Park (Skansen) in Sanok. It is one of the largest etnographical park in Poland and very unique open air museum. It gives insight into the culture of ethnic groups (Boyko, Lemko and other), once living in this region. Old wooden churches, inns, farm houses, granaries, windmills and mills (about 100 buildings from 18th-20th cc.) have been brought from the original villages and restored to original condition.

I went to the one in Lublin. It's quite large, building on a slope over a stream and ponds, so has diverse topography.

Skansen is an open air museum and the word comes from Sweden where the first such museums were established.
