Wow - Polish taxi drivers will do anything for you!

Hi everyone

I just can never understand this but a Polish taxi driver will go to the shop for you, collect food for you and so on - ask an English taxi driver to do this and guess what, firstly they would burst out laughing and lastly tell you to get lost! its just not a done thing in England, I dont know why really as we pay enough money for a taxi. The Polish guy will wait patiently at the restaurant for 30 mins, buy a bottle of vodka for you, collect your laundry or whatever you specify and PAY for all this out of his own pocket then deliver it all to you and charge you ony maybe 50p extra - plus he actually trusts you to pay him!

This is true.

Too right.... the guy would probably wait while you watched a 2 hour movie and next went to the hairdressers then probably only charge you £1 extra! bloody amazing! lol

It's not so common now but in the past all taxi drivers would run errands for you.
These days it doesn't happen so much because we have more shops and whatever you want is only a short walk away.

We had a similar service when I lived in Cyprus, years ago.

Honestly, all the taxi drivers I have ever encountered in Poland will do exactly what you want (errand wise)- I wish I could export them to England as the bloody taxi drivers are horrible here !

I think Polish people in general are more willing to help than the English as we have all beome a bit self orientated in England.

My partner (who is Polish) insisted on asking an English taxi firm to bring us a bottle of vodka at 1am once - I wont repeat what was said ! I did warn him though but hes so stubborn he wouldnt believe that taxis in Englad wont do jack s*** for you! lol

yeah, Polish cab drivers are friendlier than from other countries. Actually, if you don't know how to arrange something or have a big problem in Poland - ask a taxi driver and they will figure something out. They know much more what's going on in the city than the police do.

On the other hand, be careful and don't trust them too much (especially when money is involved) as they will outsmart you if you aren't careful :).

Not always so my friend as i was a TAXI DRIVER myself for a long time, I would wait along time sometimes for people and when they got in, it would run me late for my next pick up, they would throw abuse at me and others, damage our vehicles, but as long as they had a good time well in there eyes "to hell with the rest"

Some days i would take people home for nothing as they had no money, only when they got to there destination would they say this. I have done shopping for them rushed one guy to hospital who who been glassed, to have a wet ridden £20 note shoved in my face, and DEMAND change.

Many a time my friend i have encountered women and men in such a state of drunkeness or crying through relationship breakdown in the early hours, out of my own pocket i have taken them home without pay, and when they got home just a slam of the door and not a thank you.

Ok Wolfie, sorry I did generalise a bit, there are the good guys like you out there but unfortunately not many.

Oh and its refreshing to know (hello) that apparantly taxi drivers know more than the police ! Ill bear that in mind next time im in Poland, only problem is as I speak polish pretty crap they might be the ones with the problem not me! lol

Everyone must agree though surely that in England people are nowhere near as helpfull as the Poles oh and not as welcoming and family orientated...

Some polish taxi rock all right especially around the airport areas in warsaw....some people end up paying 5 times more for there ride.........or told to pay in us currency...

Well these black taxi's here in central London would use alot worse words then 'get lost' Charge you a absolute fortune and do nothing for you what so ever!

Zaffyw does this make me a freak of nature darling, i know all to well some Taxi drivers take are foreign friends for a ride so to speak, but on one occasion i had the opportunity to drive an american around, very much a personel cheafeur(spelling). never asked for anything but the fare and he gave me a £100 tip for showing him the sights and being there when i was wanted.

Also on another occasion was taken to Canada all fares and expenses paid to drive a old couple across around Canada, as they new me from me picking them up and taking them to there social club at weekends, guess it was a trusting thing between us. Never did happen again, but i would like to think i gave a good service and always opened the doors for people and carried there shopping.

The old people i made cups of tea aor coffee for them and made sure they were safe in there homes, just part of the service. But with to much competition from other Taxis, my one band firm died a slow death.

This is really not possible these day's cause of alot of old people would not be able to welcome a stranger into there home and actually be able to trust them alot of people have abused the old ways of being able to do this by taking money and even hurting such people

I don't no if this is just where i am - but genrally you hear alot of bad things with out people and there homes x

Sarah when people have your services on a regular basis, then they learn to trust you, but yes i can see you point. But it happned it was trust, maybe in todays world no this might not happen now. Theres so many dodgy Taxi's about i know, and you have to be careful.

Yeah i understand that if they use your service's on numerous occasions they get to know you face and learn to trust in a ideal world this would be perfect for day to day behaviour but things just can not happen this way any more because of the crimes of certain people here, i no after me and tammy coming out of our local nighclub you can see all these men saying cab cab or taxi when they are not even licenced drivers - you see many younger girls get into these cab's now this could potentially be very very dangerous

You two be very careful and if not sure take there registration down and report it to the local council, and talk to licenced drivers, because there losing fares through these people.

Tammy drives as she doesn't really drink so we are safe and sound hun - dont you worry but yeah they are all aware of them being there x
