Hi Can anyone tell me how much I should charge for private conversational classes. I dont want to rip anyone off but at the same time I want to earn what i deserve I have a GCSE and A level in English and I am currently studying for a Celta course in July however i think i will switch to callan. I was thinking 30 zl per hour.Is this reasonable?

I would say at least 40 zl. You don't want go too low since it would be difficult to rise the price later. For some reason people value you more when yo charge more - up to a certain point of course.
anither way of finding out is to check the competition who usually advertises in local papers. Have somebody Polish call them.

thankyou so thats 150 zl an hour then . So that should make people value me very highly. Thanks for your help. The people of Torun will be very pleased with your suggestion. Seriously though thankyou. 40 Zl sounds a fair price

no, it depends on your experiance but also on what the competition charges. I would go slightly lower than the competition and then rise it after 3-6 months.
Also, you might be a good teacher regardless of experiance. I don't know.

The 150 was a joke. I was thinking to charge 35 and maybe give the first lesson free to let the person see if they feel that it is something worth paying for As my teaching language experience is minimal I wouldnt like to teach too high. My girlfriend is Polish and while we were living in England I was always testing her and correcting her so I feel I have something to offer any potential students.

hi uk, i think that is a good price to start with and also a good idea to offer the first lesson free, it may help them in deciding. Another thing, why have you decided to do the callam method ?

Well I am looking for work sooner rather than later. On one of my other post's I got a reply explaining about the callan method. The person mentiones that the school will teach me the callan method. Also the celta course is 500 pound and will not start untill uly. With another completed course behind me I thought it would be an extra incentive for students to want private lessons with me. Do you have another idea? I really would welcome any extra input
