My Polish Teacher's attitude

I've just started learning Polish. I think it is a great language. I would love to speak it fluently. It's just one thing setting my back. My teacher's attitude towards my country is very strange. She began complaining about Romania during the class. As a Romanian I feel quite offended to listen her negative opinions in a class I'm paying. Need some advice about how to handle the situation. Thanks!

She as a teacher shouldn't be saying that and she needs to be told about it either by you (if you are brave enough) or by higher authority. It can also be an annonimous note to her stating that some people are offended by her speaking negatively about Romania.

How do I tell her to shut up without offending her? Her opinion about Romania and Romanins is already negative. I do not want to be the one that make it worse.

i would just mention that her comments and opinions are causing an offense failing that speak to the head of the department about it

why would you not want to offend her? simply put, she has offended you, and your paying her. i would stub it in the bud. politely remind her that she is your language teaching, and not a teacher off eastern european class systems.

Fully agree.
Put the teacher in line. Complain to her superiors.

I you are right! I am paying her and not cheap! Thanks

i'd say ask her this question> "just how much do you hate Romanian people?"

let her stick her foot in her mouth and then let her know you are Romanian.

end.

I will take some action. That is for sure. But I must be very polite. Because there are only 3 Polish teachers in Romania, and she is the only one in Bucharest. See my problem?

Why do you say that, Pole/ In Moscow the Poles hated the English! They never had a single good word to say about them. Churchill sold us to Stalin-I never heard the end of it. And now? Isn't it interesting how all these Poles today change their stories and where are they living? Only in Canada, America, England, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand and many other similar Muslim countries where Arabic is also the first language!

Just ask her to teach you lots of vocabulary connected with racism: racist, bigot, prejudice, nationalist, small minded, etc. Then ask her to explain how to talk about a nation and say something like "Tell me what you think about Romania".

Polish people don't like Romanians. They see them as extra competition in a time when the labour market is completely dominated by polish immigrants

In Poland, Romanians are often labeled as being "cyganie" (gypsies/roma) and are usually associated as being thieves/robbers. This is probably why she is very negative towards your country.

You have to tell her in private to stop (be nice and gentle) and if that doesn't help do to the principal of the school.
