POLISH CIVIL CEREMONIES TRADITIONS AND TIMELINE

I know there have been numerous threads about Polish weddings on the PF's, but could someone tell me whether a civil ceremony is different to a tradition wedding? One of my friends (who's from the UK is marrying a Polish guy), she is divorced and not catholic - just wondering what the ceremony will be like??

It'll definitely be less formal and will only be immediate family. Depends on the family, but a wedding celebration regardless wether civil or traditional will be a good time.

Merged: Civil Wedding in Poland - what should a bride wear?

I'm getting married next month in Gdansk. What do you think should I wear? Do Polish girls just wear ordinary dresses or like a business suit? Suits are boring and even if it's just a civil wedding, it's still a wedding, isn't it? Yes, it is a civil wedding ceremony.

Girls should at least buy a proper white dress. Back in my country, it is more appropriate to wear something white - a simple white dress "maybe without" the bouquet but definitely not a full-length bridal gown.

Make sure you wear a jacket, as it will be getting chilly.

Can a civil wedding be performed on a Sunday in Krakow?

I am an American who will be marrying a Polish woman in the city of Krakow. We have conflicting information.
Can a civil marriage be performed on a Sunday? Is there an official equivalent of a
justice of the peace who can legally perform such a ceremony?
Help We need answers quickly.

Yes, the ceremony is performed 7 days a week. But if you don't have Plish citizenship you need a permission from the Polish court to marry and that takes about a month, then you have to wait a month for a date. The ceremony can be performed by someone else who is entitled to it.

hmmm, a nice dress - it does not need to be white or ecru though (as the common stuff for a ceremony in the church) - for example, a friend of mine had a blue dress when she got married in registry office - all depends what makes you feel good...
