advice on mafia??? and business in Poland?

a voodoo subject but planning on opening restaurant in wroclaw and heard that certain protection rackets exist,, how bad is it if any.....

Where in Wroclaw are you planning to open a restaurant? I might drop in in December :)

As far as your question goes...I'm not quite sure how it all works. But I've heard it happens.

I've heard people may try it on with businesses, but they are pussies. Tell them to **** off, they arent mafia.

I wouldn't quite go by that. Connections are always good to have. Even the dirty ones.

Protection rackets happen everywhere, Just make sure you get some good contacts and always use protection or you might catch something nasty.

i am not sure what the situation is but i suggest you have small room in the restaurant where you can bring anyone who is looking for protection money. Have the room decorated in a few 'select' irisih nationalist decorations and point out to anyone that you have friends in places that will quite happily look after you should anyone give you hassle.
One suspicion that i have had is that a lot of the security firms might be disguised protection gangs, but this is based on absolutely nothing apart from mere suspicions.

Is there still a mafia presence in Poland or mainly local gangsters? There do seem to be an awful lot of security firms.

Not sure about Wroclaw but it does exist and sometimes there in uniform better off employing them as thats the easiest way out hassle free. If you have a polish friend they will tell you what to do.
