BEST SMALL CAR IN POLAND?

What is the cheapest new small car on the Polish market today and how much does it cost? I have heard that a small Fiat is best because even mechancis in remote rural areas know how to mend them and have easier access to spares as opposed to some of the newer more exotic marques. Would you agree?

NO not at all, Fiats are woefully unreliable and are about as dynamic as used toilet paper! Best small cars are japanese, Honda, toyota, mitsubishi etc although mechanics might not be able to fix them they never go wrong. failing that get a used lupo or something similar but steer clear of italian, french and anything korean, malyasian etc jap or german ftw!

korean KIA Ceed size of corrolla but much cheaper. really good pretty car. quality comparable to japanese cars. warranty for 7 y http://www.parkers.co.uk/cars/reviews/kia/ceed-2007.aspx price from 2200 $

I still couldnt drive anything with a Kia badge on the front, looks ok though, would go for a yaris or even the new micra which I think is hugely underrated although ugly. Forget french they are utter shite, great to drive but about as reliable as Russian politics.

Citroen C2 or an used Saxo - 4l gas on 100 km/h easily and quite dynamic

The couple who plan to tour Poland from the USA are in the sub-30,000-zloty class (they can't afford more) so the only cars I know of that fit the bill are the Kia Picanto (29,000) Chevrolet Spark (28,940) and Fiat 600 van (28000). Know of any other brand-new models in the price class? All the Hondas, Toyotas, VWs, etc. mentioned here are in the above-35,000 and closer to 40,000-zł price slot.

Why do they need a brand new car if they are only touring? Rather than buying a new cheap car it would be much wiser buying a used better quality car, The toyota yaris is really impressive for the money but avoid french cars like the plague. I went touring france a couple of years ago and bought a 10 year old MX-5 to drive around in, Much better than a brand new budget shopping trolley, much more fun and sold it for the same price I bought it for.

I would never buy a japanese car - its a dogmatic position. as well as its a dogmatic position to never buy french - but as far as small cars go a peugeot 205/Citroen AX will do as well as an old micra. and I see more AX on the streets than micras. get a peugeot 206 or a cit saxo - USED - save on production and transport resources

brzydula: what do you love about Maluch??? Seriously? do you not think they are small and cute, and if one parks in your place you can just pick it up and move it. It is a perfect first car or student car. They rmind me of minis in a way. Why do other people not like them???? That would surprise me. I always let them out and they are small enough to over take without any danger to anyone. AAAhhhh come on don't be so cold hearted.

ok, that is true- Maluch has a lot of advantages I must admit it (it is small, and you always find enough space to park it) but it also reminds me about PRL times....that's why I don't like that car :D anyway.....I am learning to drive on the left-hand side of the road and there are no Maluchs anywhere ...I am scared!:( hehe :D

French car's can't cope with british roads so god knows what will happen when you try to use one on the shocking roads in Poland. I've had several Peugeot's as company cars all of which were nearly brand new and barely a month went by without being stranded at the roadside due to the engine throwing a con rod through the side ore the shocking electrics deciding that they didn't want to play anymore. You would be as well buying a pogo stick as a more reliable mode of transport. French cars are generally very nice to drive including the 206 but the pedals are in the wrong place and with your foot fully down on the clutch your foot catches the steering column. Awesome cars while they work though. Japanese stuff is much more robust and reliable with better residuals although the majority are very bland with the interiors being of unbelievably cheap plastics but they never seem to go wrong. Forget french and buy Jap or German unless your idea of a good holiday is waiting at the roadside for a towtruck. Fiesta 1.4tdci is also a cracking little car too.

let me guess someone else gets the car after they're done with it right? seriously, why buy a car for a tour? sounds like either a) they got 30K z that's burnin a hole in their collective pocket or b) someone's given them some very bad council or c) something i've not thought of and makes buying a car for tour of Poland a completely rational decision.

I'll rent them my spare car for 30,000 pln, Its small, cheaply made and ideal for polish roads :D 30,000 pln and I will also provide a full tank of fuel and fill the multichanger with cd's too :)
