Help with getting a NIP....nightmare!

Hi, having lived in Krakow for nearly 3 months teaching english now, it's starting to become a little frustrating that i am still unable to be paid due to how complicated the system of getting a tax number here is....actually, truth be told, it was my land lady holding up the initial steps of the process. i'm now at the point where i've been told i need to fill in numerous forms from my local tax office...but noones quite sure what! apparently, there's a possibility i can download them to complete, but after trawling through endless polish pages, my rubbish polish skills have left me with nothing....can it really be this difficult to earn money?! if anyone's done this themselves and knows how/what/where/when i can get these forms then you would keep a little english girl from having christmas on the streets of krakow :D thaaaaaaaanks

Indeed. Worth remembering that some employers (language schools are notorious for this) say they can't pay you until you have a NIP, but this is a downright lie. They can pay your wage before you receive the NIP provided they have your name, address in Poland (registered or not), date of birth, parents' names and passport number.

Many language schools put the takings into a high interest deposit account and therefore want to keepthe cash there for as long as possible. The one I work for is OK, and they not only arrange a NIP for new arrivals, but they also pay even before it arrives (it can take a while to wait for).

You're going to need a NIP-3, since you are a physical, non self-employed individual. Just google 'formularz NIP' and you should find it.

I would approach your director of studies and ask for their assistance. If they refuse and dillydally, then you will know that they are cheating bastards. If however they are helpful then you'll know they are fair and organized. And in truth only really doing what the should do, which is help you. You are after their employee. If they become difficult, my advice would be to start looking for an alternative. Double check what your contract with the school stipulates. Again people will help translate any Polish text you have on the translation thread.

thanks guys!! that's more helpful than any of advice my school has given me! in general, they're great, but the person responsible for this side of things just isn't all that useful/helpful - i was a little annoyed that i was told i'd obviously need the help of someone polish to fill out the forms, yet she herself didn't offer....personally i thought that was a little lame. i've found the NIP-3 form :D thank you!!! if that's definitely the one i need, i'll test my rubbish polish skills a little....then cave and ask for help here! as for technically being able to pay me before i receive my nip, now that just pisses me off - they're aware i'm penniless at the moment so i think i'll have to ask a few questions about that one! thanks again :) (please feel free to keep the advice flowing, i have no doubt i'm many moons away from a wage and success yet!)

I had similar problems in Germany! lol Aufenthaltserlaubnis Residence Permit I didn't have one and no one really knew how to go about it and the company I worked at did not foresee my needing one. Welcome to Bureaucracy 101. They love to make you jump through hoops. Even when they get all the information, what good is it? So they can collect TAXES is about the only reason I can think they even care.

A company asked me for a NIP before we sign a contract but i don't know where i should go to get this!nobody gave me information and i don't know also what documents i need to have...

Ur company should be helping u 2 get that. U r obviously a foreigner and should be assisted in such matters. I got my NIP last year. U should ask ur company to get the documentation and guide u through the process.

Go to Ul. Sebastiana, there is an EU member Government office there which deals with NIP number and everything else. Take someone who speaks Polish cause they are an ignorant bunch of........;) They will give you everything u need. And don't take any crap of them. It took me 4 months to get my NIP, they even tried to tell me i couldnt work untill i had it. :D:D:D viva la polska:) Oh yeah, your company should pay you your wages. When you get your payslip, u will be on an emergency NIP number.

OOH... sounds like a lot of trauma.....when i needed my nip i took a Polish speaking mate from work , filled in a form at the tax office , and three weeks later i have a nip.....Find a friend to go with you , makes life so much easier......I guess i am lucky , i work for a good boss , and have some great work mates.....
