A lot of "How safe is Poland" threads?

Can't help but notice a lot of "How safe is Poland" threads on here.

My perception of the place and people is based entirely on the Polish people I have met/spoken too and the Polish communities living over here so it's not exactly accurate but I am finding it difficult to imagine Poland being such a rough place to live given the nature of it's people??

So how would Krakow compare to, say, London, Liverpool or Manchester? Anyone?

P.S. For some reason the thread "How safe are Polish cities?" is blocked on this computer, hence I can't just read that one for my answers - przepraszam.

Which city? Most cities are safe depending on what time and where you are.

Yup. Blocked! I'm at work on the night shift and they don't like us not working so they block sites that staff have visited. They've blocked random pages of this site but I can still use most of it. They blocked the latest discussions page!! >:(

Anyways, I'm giving very serious thought to moving to Krakow if I can. So I guess Krakow.

MY employer does the same :/ not half assed like yours though. Krakow is fairly safe in my opinion, but like anywhere late at night you may run into some loudmouths.

I won't merge it on you. We can wait for other replies.

This company was founded on halfarsedness. I'm hedging my bets on Krakow being a marked improvement on Manchester anyways.

I reckon most cities have safe and not so safe areas.
Smaller towns frequently have higher rates of violence.

Being a Manc and having visited Krakow twice, I can safely say you are correct in your assumption D.

There is a Neo-NAZI group out there. One of my friend was beaten up somewhere is WArsaw in the middle of the day with no reason! No stuffs had been taken at all.

I think these people are doing it for fun. They hate foreigners.

SHould keep an eye on a group of guys which have skin heads with army pants/cloths. Always!

After living in Poland for more than 3 years (I have I spent more than 2 in a non very exciting city, very poor in fact) I find Poland very safe. Comparing any of the polish cities to any city in the UK it's unfair!!!!
The crimes that I hear, are mostly between relatives and people that know each other. I feel very safe everything I am walking in the steets of Warsaw, any time of the day. Of course there place a bit more unsecure such as in Praga (the east side of Warsaw) but no one is getting killed. Please do not compare with UK, where you can psicos around the corner!!

Why, it's called a comparison. No?

What's psicos? Judging by your written English you are not a native speaker, so please don't judge my country by what you read in the papers or what you encountered whilst living in some dirty infested part of England where no English people would live!

You may have to narrow it down a bit.

Danny, I am moving there too so I'm taking the same bet as you are, but I think since Krakow is very touristic, I'm assuming as well it might be safe, or so I hope ;)

I have been living in Poland for nearly 2 years now and I too feel much safer here than in the UK. Where I live (just outside a small town) people often don't lock their cars.

In the UK if people see trouble nowadays they don't want to get involved for fear of being stabbed by a 15 year-old hoodie, which is understandable. So in London for example you don't even feel safe in a public place or on a bus. You can't expect the bus driver or anyone to help you.

Poland hasn't gone that way and I hope it won't do either....
