Public Hospitals in Poland - How much to stay in one?

Hi. I spent just over 2 days in a public hospital on poland. Went in Tuesday morning and out thursday at noon. As i was not covered by insurance, i had to pay for the stay which i do not have a problem with. However, having spoken to colleagues in the know, they felt that the cost was quite high. I am wondering if i was charged the 'Expat' cost. Cost of stay was 1800 pln.
I have since heard that i probably could have got it cheaper in a private hospital. As i have to get some more things done, i just want to see if i would be better to go to private hospital and at least have the comfort of it.
Hospital was in poznan.

not sure, however you might find statmedica.com useful - it seems aimed at expats

It depends what they were doing to you. Just for staying there shouldn't be more than 100 pln a day.

That's not impossible.

Thanks for that. i will have a look.
G, When i say that i could get it cheaper, i mean that i could get it cheaper than what i was charged. i know well that private hospitals are normally more expensive than public ones.
I was in for some simple tests all of which took less than 90 minutes in total.
My stay worked out at about 900 pln per day(assuming i was charged for 2 days) or 600 pln if they charge me for 3 days.
i got a quote from a private hospital in Warsaw who would charge me 300 pln per day just for the room. At least i would have a bit of comfort.

If you had an EHIC card the NFZ should have treated you for free, it works on a one for one basis, on the understanding that you get treated for free in poland, whilst a pole gets treated in the UK by the NHS for free..

Im getting an operation in Poznań next month on my knee on the NFZ for free, if i had to pay for it it would cost me 3000pln

Type in EHIC on google.co.uk and u will find out about it
