16 y.o. starting from Scratch. Moving from Canada to Poland, $11K in bank

Hi
I'm currently looking to move to Poland (specifically Warsaw)from Canada.
In 2011 i will have completed my Culinary Arts, Pastry and Bartending corses, and I currently have 11,000 CAD saved up (16 year old now). I just would like to know the typical priceing on a 1 bedroom apartment, and how much a Chef would make at say a 3 or 4 star Hotel (I have the Holiday Inn in mind as i can try work at one where i live and hope for a transfer of some sorts). I know full well that with careful planning i would be able to live at ease and almost carefree in my location in Canada, but something just lures me to Poland and I would like to know if going there would leave me in a tight situation for cash or would it be about the same.

Hello

The last I knew the Canadian dollar was pretty strong.

If you assume that its on par with the US dollar for exchange then you are looking at

$11,000 x 2.50 = 27,500pl

Depending in the size of the city and the appartment you are looking at 1,000 to 1,500.

Add in 500 a month for food and another 100 for a bus pass for the month.

I am sure that I am over doing the food. Since you will work in a resturant/bar you will probably get cheap or free food.

I think expenses will be between $1500 and $2000pl a month.

It also depends on what you need for excitement. I will say that many towns have no night life or excitement what so ever.

And if you want to find a job, I'd recommend you wait until you're 18 and know Polish language well. People not speaking Polish are much less likely to find a job except of teaching (English in that case).

Firstly you're going to make less than you'd make in Canada. Polish wages are simply lower. Secondly you are going to need to speak fluent Polish.

I wouldn't be sure if a person under 16 has a right to rent a flat.

I left home and moved to Norway when i was 16, just for three months.
I worked there and spent a lot of time thinking.

Thank you for the advise so far, sorry for leaving out any information i had written this in a bit of a haste before work (as i am now -.-). I was thinking of moveing out when im 19 (after all my corses are done and have saved up more) and in the mean time i'll be learning Polish to :)

Well that's a bit different, is it?
Why? how?
Are your folks Polish?
Why do they call it shipment when it goes by car and cargo when it goes by ship?

As for screen name you can call me Sess,
For the reason as to Why, i cant really answer, its just that Poland to me seems like the Canada of eruope (tho its not in realistics, it's just one of those odd reminders). I have no traced family or blood line leading to poland, its just seems like the place for me. the -20 celcious is great for i like the cold and am used to the -50's I've been having in Manitoba.
As for How to get to poland i was hoping, wishful thinking at the most right now is to be hired at the Holiday Inn in my town, and iether get a transfer over to Warsaw becuase there are 2 Holiday Inns there, or if thats not possable, i'll at least have it on my expirence for my resume/CV(?).
Thats basically the low down of my future plans, But of corse i will be taking a summer corse that lasts 4 weeks and gives you i think some credits towards colledge and its studies in learning polish. This at least will lets me know more of the place i choose to settle in.
