It's not changed in size. Just there is no box now. So I think your eyes will be fine ;)

what i mean is dolly that the text has gone light gray onto a whatever colour the background is. It used to be in a box with black text which was easier. :)

And on the colour thing, why not have the text that was quoted in a box, then the text can stay the same colour yet the writting is easier to see.

I think the colour is the same? I'm not sure. It doesn't look a different colour to me. I think just the box is gone is all. :)

If it has changed in colour then it's not something that has affected me so I can't really comment on that. :P

umm green? purple? anything but red cos that is obviously your favourite colour to use.

Then some will complain they first focus on the quotation (the text they may have already read and remembered) rather than the new text.. In reality people only read the first few words of the quote as they know the rest from the previous posts they read, so why focus on quotations?

that is what i meant, the box has gone hence the text is on a different colour, which is harder to see at first glance.

no problems, how are you to know :)

you could make it simple by just putting it back to the original way it was, i mean what was wrong with it, were you just bored and decided to change it??

Whenever I make a change, I do it because I believe the change will be for better. Same questions were asked when the graphic smileys were disabled or the new layout was implemented.

ok fair play but don't you think that the words witten on the screen and how they are presented are a bit more important than a few smileys, maybe sometimes it would be good to ask before changing, i know its difficult and all that but really some of the rubbish topics we get here i'm sure a one saying 'quote text change' wouldn't disturb the piece :)

I'm only speaking about this really as it actually affects me and what you could call my 'pf experience'

thnx

I think the quote part should be the same color as the background. That would make the site more intriguing and force users to more interactivity because of the need to highlight the text in order to even see it.

I'm sure the stats would go up too as people would come here just to see if this latest and greatest in user interface design is for real.

I love changes, but not fvckups ;)

The quoted part is indeed harder to read. Not impossible, just not as user friendly as it used to be. For some here the font may be too hard on their eyes as the iris needs to refocus between different part of posts. That is not a good design practice. It's not some black magic but facts based on research. In some computer science departments UI design course is compulsory. Apparently in some it isn't.

It's not really. Different background but the quoted text is still readable. Maybe you need to adjust the brightness in your monitor... ;)

When I say it's not affected me I mean that as I go about the site, it hasn't distracted me from reading posts or understanding them. :) And how am I to know? I read 100 threads daily (on average) so any changes in structure of posts are immediate and this has had no effect on my reading... :)

So would you suggest the quote and the text to have the same color and font size so that there's no need to refocus? Then what would you say to those who complain that the quote part may not be separated enough from the actual message?

I wouldn't suggest that. Researchers do.

I wouldn't say anything to them but to you: there are better ways to separate blocks of text than making one of them tiny. You used the method before, and that was much more prominent separation than this faded thing you implemented now.

The font size has not changed at all, previously the font size was exactly the same.

well obviously the problem is visiability, how about sorting that out?? instead of going round in circles with people??? It can't be that difficult to make the text a bit bigger, make it bold and blue, can it???

I assume by dolly you are referring to me and not to anyone else (as dolly can be any girl). :) I would say, from my reading of PF today, this combination is fine. :)

tornado2007:

I had to wear glasses up until recently, to correct an eye problem. I haven't had any troubles reading PF then, or indeed now, despite the problem I have had. It's as clear as I could hope for. :)

But we just mentioned all of that. The text isn't smaller, so it's not more difficult to read. Blue would make it more difficult to read. As would bold. :)

As you can see, you are managing to quote well and answer above with other members so I think you'll be just fine... ;)

well, really you think that is more difficult than the gray stuff, ok so it does not fit with the rest of the forum layout which may be a problem but hay at least you can see it for sure!!!

It's not visible text, you need to read a lengthy quote. It actually makes the new text less visible...

Actually, I look at things and decide what I can see and black or grey on a pale background is what I see best. Colours are harder to see on a pale background because they are too bright... :)
