Buckwheat Potato Loaf?? Pierog ?

My Babcia used to make a loaf that had a flaky crust with buckwheat, potato and cheese in the middle. It was baked in a small loaf and then sliced with butter on top. I'm 4th gen. in Canada but my 4 grandparents and my father are now passed. Can't find my Babcia's cookbooks anywhere. Does anyone know this loaf or have a recipe?? Thanks
