Need spelling of Polish dessert - can you help?

I am looking for the correct spelling of a Polish dessert my grandmother made. It was a topping for kruche ciasto (a shortbread-like bar cookie), and was made with equal parts heavy cream and sugar. She simmered the cream for about two hours until it formed a soft, caramel-like pourable topping. (It's similar to dulce de leche, but not exactly the same.) The dessert sounds like "tanouchka," but I would really like to know what the actual name is so I can pass it along to the kids! Can you help?
