No Bagels in Poland (even though they were invented in Krakow :/

why is it that I could not find any bagels in PL. nowhere.

History
The bagel was invented in Central Europe, possibly in Kraków as a 1610 document[citation needed] mentions beygls given as a gift to women in childbirth. This is cited as the earliest known reference, but the document is not absolutely clear about what a beygl is. Also uncertain is the relationship, if any, to the sweet Hungarian pastry, beigli.

See, there goes the whole theory of Jews in Poland. No bagels. So not fair.

I feel bad for you, that you can not find them there. I have a few frozen in my fridge most of the time. Excellent, when defrosted and toasted. I know what you miss and I'm not even jewish :)

ive eaten some delicious bread rolls in poland, who needs bagels... variety... the spice of life!

Ah, warm bread rolls, straight from moms and pops bakery on the corner...yes - good stuff. Do they still exist?

Panera Bread Bakery shops in the US remind me a little of the luxury.
And, their bagels are so gooooood!!!!

you can get bagels at a place called 'bagelmama' in kazimierz, the jewish district of krakow. very tasty ones too!

Haha yea I've been wanting some bagels. It's impossible to find them in stores. They sell bake rolls now, those hard bagel chip things. As andy said, the only place I know of is in Krakow in the Jewish district.

What makes bagels different is the boiling.
It's a while since I made bagels - the only thing I ever made from a Jewish resipe book someone once gave me.
I didn't fancy the Chicken Soup complete with feet.
But bagels with cream cheese and smoked salmon - mmmmmmmmm!
I didn't know they originated in Poland. You learn something new every day.

Supermarket bagels - why do they always taste like any other bread roll, only bagel-shaped?
