Looking for Polish Sauerkraut soup...

Hi everyone, I'm new here. I'm trying to come up with a recipe that is similar to my grandmother's Sauerkraut Soup (Kapusta). I hope someone can help me. I've been searching on the internet all night and cannot find anything similar. What I remember about it was that it was thick, there were no tomatoes in it, or prunes or apples or anything sweet - it was kind of salty. There were no mushrooms in it or ham or potatoes. She used pigs tails for meat. Does anybody know of a similar recipe? I want to try to recreate it for my mother's 80th birthday. Thanks in advance.

Here's one recipee of the "kapuśniak" soup:

2 lbs smoked pork shanks or pig's fee
1 qt. water
1 onion
1 qt. sauerkraut juice
1/4 cup sugar
1/4 cup cream
1 egg
3/4 cup milk

Cook meat in water untill well done. Add onion, sauerkraut juice and sugar. Beat egg, add flour, milk and cream. Add to soup and bring to boiling point. Serve with potato dumplings.

This stupid recipee doesn't have sauerkraut in it. It's from Polish-American recipee book. But you can experiment and add a cup or two and see what happens.

My mom uses small pork ribs. The meat turns out so tender; it falls off the bone.
