Assistance required to locate my father in Gdansk

I hope someone can help?

My father was an exchange student in Manchester, UK, from Gdansk in the late 1970's. I have no details other than his first name (Wladyslaw) and a photograph taken at the time. Does anyone know of a local newspaper or a contact/authority in Gdansk who may be able to help me locate him? Unfortunately I speak no Polish.

He knew my mother was pregnant so he did know he had a child. However, I've finally decided I'd like to find him.

Any information is most appreciated.

Thank you.

I wish you luck with this...but bear in mind he may have a life and family in Poland that might get a bit shaken up by a part of his past making an appearance...It may be he has not told his family about this....

Have you made inquiries at Manchester (university) (I assume). There might be a yearbook or photo with his full name.

The same applies for Gdansk.

Someone might have posted a photo or mentioned his name at FriendsReunited. The site does have listings for universities.

You might find that one of your mum's friends can remember something that will help.
