This land was left behind in the Ukraine due to the WWII border shift resolutions, but the Polish government was in charge of giving people an appropriate amount of land to re-settle on in what is currently Poland, so...

I have a document listing all real estate property which belonged to him when he was forced to move from what used to be Eastern Poland (Galicja) and then became communistic Ukraine. Who do I need to contact to claim that? The (Polish?) government was supposed to give him an equal amount of property to match the value of that when they moved them out of the area, but never did - so who to contact to resolve this matter? Thanks.

which belonged to him

You didn't state who. (Is if that will make any difference).

By Ukrainians? Ukrainian people or the USSR? There is some difference.

This land is in East and you have until Dec. 2008 to file a claim in Poland. This land was Kresy and PM me for a location to get the forms. Time is running out and EU is asking Russia to take responsability.

Subsequent to WWII, the Soviet Union (Russia) annexed the Eastern portion of Poland, not the Ukrainians. Ukraine was then part of and controlled by the Soviet Union even more so than Poland was. In return for the annexed Eastern lands known as "Kresy", the Soviet Union "took" part of Eastern Germany and former Prussia and gave it to Poland, although the land area of the German lands was much less than what Poland lost.

Getting property back in 'Kresy" might very well involve a lawsuit against Russia, and not Ukraine. It's complicated. Ask a good lawyer. All in all, Poland lost out and was screwed in the entire deal along with millions of displaced Germans and Poles. This resulted in making Poland the most homogenous ethnic country in all of Europe, because it eliminated the many Ukrainians and Germans from the new Polish borders. The Germans of course, murdered Poland's Jewish population.

This is not a matter of getting land back. It's a % of todays value. It is also not for the people that recieved compensation with property that was taken from the west (Germany). Poland has paid alot of people already, some as much as 100%. Deadline 12/2008
