Kosky of Slask area Poland

My gt gt grandfather came to England in 1895 from Poland on a boat, he was an austrian jew from Poland... how do i begin to research his life in Poland?? Many thanks for any help you can give x

The Polish spelling would be Koski (Kosky is Czech-SLovak or transcribed Cyrillic).
The largest single concentration is in the Katowice area of ¦l±sk (Silesia). A slightly smaller cluster is found in and around the West Poland city of Poznań.
