I recently looked up what the last name of Rucinski means, which is my mother's maiden name, and it means: habitational name for someone from a place called Ruciany in Siedlce. Can anyone tell me anything about this area or if it is still referred to by the same name. I also know that my great-grandmother owned land in Siedleczysko, district Iwanisko from 1922 to 1969. If anyone could give me some information about these areas and if they know of any churches in the area that I can contact in order to get records would be greatly appreciated!!

Thanks for the help,
Sarah :)

The root pf the Ruciński surname is the word rucina, a diminutive of ruta (the herb myrtle). This herb has traditionally had a ritual significance related to marriage and spinsterhood. For more info please contact: research60@gmail.com
